Krafton India Invites Bids for Franchise-Based Esports League in India

After months of rumours and speculations circulating within the Indian gaming community, Krafton has officially announced its plans to launch a revolutionary franchise-based esports league in India. The South Korean gaming giant has opened the bidding process for what promises to be a game-changing initiative in the country’s rapidly evolving esports landscape.

Krafton India Announces Franchise-Based Esports for BGMI

This announcement comes at a time when Krafton has been significantly expanding its presence in the Indian esports ecosystem. The company has already established itself as a major player with the BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA SERIES (BGIS) 2025, which featured a record-breaking Rs. 3.2 crore prize pool, marking a 60% increase from the previous year. The tournament’s grand finale took place in Kolkata from 25th to 27th April. Additionally, the ongoing Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) 2025 continues to draw attention, featuring top professional teams competing across multiple stages and qualifiers for substantial prize pools.

The franchise-based league represents a natural evolution of Krafton’s esports strategy in India. Unlike traditional tournament formats, a franchise model would create permanent team structures, similar to successful leagues like the Indian Premier League in cricket. This approach could provide greater stability for professional players, consistent revenue streams for teams, and better fan engagement.

The timing of this franchise league announcement aligns perfectly with India’s booming esports market. With mobile gaming leading the charge and BGMI maintaining its position as one of the country’s most popular titles, a structured league format could attract significant investment from both traditional sports franchises and new-age entrepreneurs.

The bidding process details and specific requirements for potential franchise owners are expected to be revealed soon. This initiative could set new benchmarks for player salaries, production quality, and overall professionalism in Indian esports. As Krafton continues to invest heavily in the Indian gaming ecosystem, this franchise-based league could become the cornerstone of organized competitive gaming in the country.

New Valorant Leaks Reveal Free Gun Buddies Celebrating Unreal Engine 5 Upgrade

Earlier this year, Riot Games unveiled its future roadmap for Valorant, with one of the most immediate plans being an upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.

At the time of writing, the tactical shooter is running on Unreal Engine 4. As per the devs, the engine upgrade to Unreal Engine 5 will bring better visuals, performance enhancements, and enable faster patch downloads moving forward without changing the core gameplay mechanics.

While the Valorant engine upgrade is still about a month away, recent leaks suggest that Riot is planning to give players free Gun Buddies to celebrate the transition.

Riot Might Give Out Free Gun Buddies To Celebrate Unreal Engine 5 Upgrade

As per a leak from prominent Valorant dataminer ‘VALORANTLeaksEN’ on X (formerly Twitter), players who tune into the game during Patch 11.02 will get the ”Hot New Engine” Gun Buddy for free.

This Gun Buddy will be given out to players as part of the celebration for Valorant’s Unreal Engine 5 upgrade

Whether Riot has more rewards planned for the occasion remains to be seen.

How To Get the “How New Engine Gun” Buddy in Valorant

If the aforementioned leaks are anything to go by, players will be able to claim the “Hot New Engine” Gun Buddy by simply logging into Valorant during patch 11.02.

The Valorant 11.02 update will hit the live servers towards the end of July 2025.

Valorant 11.00 Update Buffs Waylay, Nerfs Reyna, and Brings Corrode To Competitive Queues

Riot Games has officially revealed the patch notes for the Valorant 11.00 update, and it’s all set to introduce some major changes to the competitive shooter.

For starters, the Valorant Season 25 Act 4 update will add the new map Corrode to the tactical shooter alongside the Phaseguard bundle. But that’s not all — the Valorant 11.00 patch will also bring a bunch of balance changes to the game’s Agents, aiming to shake up the current meta of the title.

In this article, we’ll take a look at everything you need to know about the upcoming Valorant 11.00 update.

Valorant 11.00 Patch Release Date

The Valorant 11.00 update is scheduled to hit the live servers on June 25, 2025.

Note that, unlike previous map additions, Corrode will be added to the Competitive queues from day one

Valorant 11.00 Patch Notes Revealed By Riot

Below, we have listed the detailed patch notes for the Valorant 11.00 update, as revealed by Riot Games:

  • Agents
    • Agent abilities adjusted = Waylay, Reyna, Phoenix, Neon
    • Agent clarity and consistency improvements = Breach, Sova, Clove, Killjoy, Cypher, Omen, Brimstone
  • Maps
    • New map = Corrode
    • New mode = Corrode Only queue in Swiftplay for 5 days (to help you learn the map!)
    • For Competitive and Deathmatch = Bind and Corrode are in, Pearl and Split are out
    • For the first 2 weeks of Competitive, Corrode RR losses are reduced by 50%, wins are still 100% (to also help you learn the map!)
  • Competitive
    • You may see less of a drop in rank after completing placements for this midseason reset.
    • The maximum rank you can place is now Ascendant 3 instead of Ascendant 1.

Now there’s other spicy updates, such as the esports hub coming to console, so grab a coffee and jump in below!

ALL PLATFORMS

GENERAL UPDATES

  • Suppression visual effects have been updated to be more visible on opponents to improve clarity of the debuff
  • We’ve added new UI/UX animations around picking up the spike to hopefully make it more obvious when players have picked it up.

AGENT UPDATES

  • Waylay
    • Waylay has shown a steep mastery curve since her release, where her win rate significantly improves the more games you play. That said, she is still slightly weak at all skill levels. These buffs aim to sharpen her ability to take fights right after exiting Lightspeed and make her Refract loop easier to play around, as well as improve Waylay’s flow and gameplay feel. Saturate does not land at a comparable rate to other abilities, so we’re increasing its power to justify its 300 credit cost.
    • Refract
      • Refract is faster and smoother, reducing total travel time
        • Minimum time in refract decreased 0.5s >>> 0.35s
        • Maximum time in refract decreased 3s >>> 2s
      • Unequip time decreased 1.0s >>> 0.8s
      • Refract delay after reactivation decreased 0.1s >>> 0.05s
    • Lightspeed
      • Unequip delay decreased 0.8s >>> 0.6s
    • Saturate
      • Windup before explosion decreased 0.75s >>> 0.6s
      • Size increased 10m total size >>> 12m total size

As we continue to tune ability strength for consistency, there’s opportunity for a couple of small changes with a few of our Agents so there’s more room for counterplay and opportunities for clutch moments like flicking to turn flashes.

  • Reyna
    • Leer is tankier than many of our other comparable shootable objects, and can feel especially so when it’s unclear if you are successfully shooting Leer after it has formed.
    • Leer
      • HP decreased 100 >> 80
    • Audio and visual hit confirm feedback has been added to shots that land on Leer.

We’re also adjusting Neon’s Relay Bolt and Phoenix’s Curveball to have room for some additional counterplay. These abilities are meant to create strong combat advantages, but their fast activation left little time for opponents to respond. These changes aim to increase moment-to-moment counterplay without removing the need to anticipate and position against them.

  • Neon
    • Relay Bolt Windup increased 0.8s >>> 1.0s
  • Phoenix
    • Curveball Windup increased 0.5s >>> 0.6s

CLARITY AND CONSISTENCY UPDATES

These below changes are part of our ongoing effort to improve gameplay consistency & combat clarity similar to our updates to Neon’s Overdrive visual effects and Deadlock’s Barrier Mesh health states.

  • Breach
    • Aftershock
      • Visual effects around the windup and explosions resolve slightly more quickly and block less gameplay space
  • Sova
    • Recon Bolt
      • Increased volume of Recon Bolt’s projectile loop and improved how the arrow’s sound travels through the air to make it easier to track
      • Audio priority and attenuation adjusted so that you can more reliably hear the arrow when multiple audio cues are present
      • Audio tech updated to make it easier understand the trajectory of the arrow, point of impact, and reveal radius
    • Owl Drone
      • Enemies now hear a light warning audio loop when they are spotted by Sova’s drone
      • Audio hit confirm feedback has been added when shooting the drone successfully
  • Clove
    • Pick-Me-Up
      • Pick-Me-Up visuals updated to show when Clove’s speed boost is active
  • Killjoy
    • Lockdown
      • Lockdown’s detain pulse delay: 0.5s >>> 0.15s
        • Lockdown’s visual effects have been updated to match this new behavior
  • Cypher
    • Spycam
      • Spycam’s dart visuals have been updated so that is easier to understand the dart’s directionality
  • Omen
    • Given no other dome smoke controllers reveal their own location on smoking, we’ve removed this opponent counterplay specific to Omen.
    • Dark Cover no longer plays audio in third person within 12.5 meters for opponents. This audio will still play for Allies.
  • Brimstone
    • Sky Smoke will now play cast audio within 12.5 meters for allies

MAP UPDATES

  • NEW MAP: CORRODE
    • A 5v5 spike mode map featuring layered defenses and strategic depth across its medieval fortress setting. Navigate through contrasting castle fortifications and village structures, battling across multi-level positions in this salt-crystallized stronghold shaped by radianite storms.
    • Corrode features three lanes and two sites.
  • MAP POOL UPDATES
    • BIND and CORRODE are IN the COMPETITIVE and DEATHMATCH queues.
    • PEARL and SPLIT are OUT of the COMPETITIVE and DEATHMATCH queues.
    • CORRODE is now also available to play in Premier, Unrated, Swiftplay, Spike Rush, and Escalation.

MODES UPDATES

  • CORRODE QUEUE
    • Corrode Only queue will be available for 5 days.
    • Corrode Only games will use the Swiftplay mode format.
  • ESCALATION
    • Escalation will be temporarily disabled during the 5-day Corrode-only queue period.
  • Icebox has been reenabled in Deathmatch and Escalation game modes after addressing spawn-related issues that emerged in patch 10.09.

COMPETITIVE UPDATES

  • Ranked Gun Buddy has arrived!
    • Act IV starts today so you’ll be receiving your ranked buddy this patch. Remember that it’s based on the highest rank you achieved throughout the first three acts of Season 2025.
  • Corrode Launch Event
    • Corrode will be available to play in Competitive queue on the first day of the patch!
    • RR losses on Corrode will be 50% reduced for the first two weeks, but don’t worry, you will still receive 100% of the RR for any wins on Corrode
  • We’ve made some adjustments to rank resets. Hop back into Competitive and see where you land!
    • Players may see less of a drop in rank after completing placements for this midseason reset.
    • The maximum rank you can place is now Ascendant 3.

BUG FIXES

  • General
    • Fixed a bug with all Vulnerables/Fragiles where the visual effects could linger on a target longer than the gameplay debuff duration
    • Fixed a bug where destructible deployables like Tejo’s Stealth Drone and Fade’s Prowlers could keep teleporter doors open on Bind
  • Agents
    • KAY/O
      • Fixed an issue where KAYO’s ultimate sometimes did not apply the suppression visuals to opponents
    • Raze
      • Fixed an issue where Raze’s Paint Shells VFX would persist across rounds
    • Omen
      • Fixed an issue where targeting views could be inconsistently applied during Dark Cover if Shrouded Step was spammed during Dark Cover’s ability equip flow.
    • Skye
      • Fixed inconsistent spacing in ability tooltips
    • Cypher
      • Fixed inconsistent spacing in ability tooltips
    • Breach
      • Fixed an issue where Breach’s Fault Line could rarely fail to apply its debuff to targets around varying elevations on specific charge levels
    • Astra
      • Fixed an issue where disconnecting and reconnecting within Astral World could result in Astral World’s visuals persisting for the round despite the player not being in Astral World.

HuNter to Take Over IGL Role in G2 Replacing Snax

According to reports, star rifler Nemanja “huNter—” Kovač is set to take over IGL duties from Snax as part of the roster’s rebuilding following a disappointing performance at the BLAST.tv Austin Major.

While it was clear that Snax leading G2 was not the ideal way forward if they are to get back to hanging with the likes of Spirit and Vitality, it still comes as a surprise that it will be huNter taking over the IGL role.

Looking at the change from a distance, it makes total sense given his age, huNter will be expected to give up the positions of significance on the map to the younger guns like malbs and HeavyGod and he has the years of experience playing under different IGLs to be able to lead a roster of this magnitude.

The unavailability of top IGLs can also be attributed to this change, which is why an in-house solution could be a better way forward for the organization. Joining the team will be sAw, a coach well known for his team-building abilities, which makes it hard to imagine that this decision was made without him signing off.

Replacing Snax will be Kacper “xKacpersky” Gabara, a young talent from the NiP Academy roster. While this change will significantly bring down the average experience of the G2 team, the project can be written off as one for the future.

Recent individual performances from huNter prove that he can still keep up with the best riflers in the world, but his experience as a player might serve the needs of his team better if he calls the shots.

Only time can tell if this roster move would yield results, but as of now, there is little that G2 could have done to get back to winning ways, given the unavailability of superstars in the market.

Gamescom 2025: Dates, Exhibitors, Major Game Reveals & What to Expect in Cologne

0

Cologne, Germany, will be transformed again from August 20 to 24, 2025, into the world center for interactive entertainment as Gamescom makes a return. The event starts with Opening Night Live on August 19, featuring the newest trailers and announcements prior to the showfloor opening its doors.

In 2024, Gamescom broke records by attracting over 335,000 visitors from about 120 nations, making it the largest gaming convention globally. More than 310 million digital interactions were recorded, and the Opening Night Live livestream alone was viewed over 40 million times, twice as many as the year before. Expectation is rife that Gamescom 2025 will record equally impressive participation from fans as well as professionals in the gaming sector.

Hosted at the vast Koelnmesse convention facility, Gamescom blends public showcases with business-oriented conferences. In 2024, some 32,000 trade visitors attended the event, emphasizing its status as a B2B platform. The sibling conference Devcom, aimed at game developers, also increased in size, attracting approximately 5,000 attendees in 2024.

Aside from sheer size, Gamescom 2025 has in store a rich narrative of content: from independent showcases and cosplay areas to esports competitions and immersive side events throughout the city. The Gamescom City Festival, which attracted some 80,000 visitors in 2024, will be back to provide free concerts, meetups, panels, and street atmosphere.

A star lineup of developers and publishers, ranging from top-tier international brands to emerging studios, will feature in the event. To date, the following names and their expected titles have been announced:

  • Capcom, with titles such as Resident Evil Requiem and Onimusha: Way of the Sword
  • GRYPHLINE, Hypergryph’s recently established international publishing arm, with Arknights: Endfield
  • Astragon Entertainment
  • KRAFTON, with InZOI, PUBG: Battlegrounds, and PUBG: Blindspot teasers
  • Microsoft / Xbox, backed by Bethesda and Blizzard, with World of Warcraft: Midnight included in their showcase among other titles
  • Nintendo
  • Ubisoft, which is set to feature Anno 117: Pax Romana
  • Wargaming, whose Steel Hunters will be showcased
  • Team17

Other companies like The Pokémon Company will also make an appearance in the board game area, bringing popular experiences such as the Pokémon TCG.

Gamescom is a platform by nature that combines consumer enthusiasm with professional interest. Its mixture of hands-on gameplay experiences, developer sessions, live esports, and industry networking makes for an energetic environment for gamers, creators, and businesspeople alike.

Global reach and online participation are also important to the convention. In past years, livestreams and online coverage allowed millions to join in virtually, giving the event’s reach much further than Cologne.

In addition, the fact that 2024 features sessions that address games’ overlaps with AI, democracy, and climate change indicates that education and relevance to society will remain prominent themes this year.

Riot to Release New Anthem Before VCT Pacific Stage 2

0

Riot Games is igniting the stage on fire for Stage 2 of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Pacific by releasing a brand-new anthem, “Shinpai Muyou” (“No Need to Worry”), alongside renowned Japanese musician Yuki Chiba. The song is scheduled for release on all major streaming platforms and will be supported by a music video dropping on the VCT Pacific YouTube channel on July 11.

Born April 22, 1990, in the Oji district of Tokyo, Yuki Chiba, formerly KOHH, has been a vocal force within Japanese hip-hop since he began his career in 2008. His early output was a testament to a rough-around-the-edges childhood defined by loss within his family and the city’s bleak struggle, which he poured into unflinching, honest lyrics that resonated strongly within Japan’s underground culture.

Chiba became a household name via high-profile features, such as Keith Ape’s chart-topper “It G Ma” and a guest verse on Frank Ocean’s “Nikes.” In 2024, he charted worldwide with “Mamushi” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, reaching the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 68.

“Shinpai Muyou” is Chiba’s entrance into the gaming and esports music scene, marking Riot’s aspiration to bring music scenes together from different parts of the world. The energetic drums and catchy bassline are reminiscent of his trademark combination of trap and hip-hop, and the song’s positive theme echoes the forthcoming VCT Pacific grand final roadshow, which would for the first time be taking place in Japan in late August.

Chiba shared his personal connection to the song: “‘Shinpai Muyou’ is a reminder to myself and my fans not to worry and always believe in yourself. There’s no need to stress when you can just vibe.”

Competitive fireworks will erupt on July 15 at Seoul’s Sangam Colosseum, with an impressive lineup consisting of defending Masters champions Paper Rex, who defeated Fnatic during VCT Masters Toronto. The team’s steady, high-level play makes it one of the top contenders.

Paper Rex Are Your Valorant Masters Toronto 2025 Champions!

Paper Rex are the winners of Valorant Masters Toronto 2025!

The Southeast Asian esports org took down EMEA giants Fnatic in the grand final of the event to secure the trophy.

With this victory, PRX secure their first international trophy in Valorant. Despite consistently being one of the top teams in the SEA region, they had struggled to leave a mark on the global stage up until now.

PRX Take Down Fnatic in Masters Toronto 2025 Grand Finals

The grand final showdown between PRX and Fnatic at Valorant Masters Toronto was an absolute nail-biter from start to finish.

After narrowly edging out past their opponents on Sunset with a 13-11 finish, PRX fell short on Lotus, which went to four overtimes before ending 17-15 in Fnatic’s favor.

They managed to bounce back on Pearl with a 13-10 score before closing out the series with an overtime victory on Lotus.

With two back-to-back map wins, PRX emerged victorious in the Masters Toronto grand final, securing a 3-1 series win.

BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 Ranks as the Most-Watched Counter-Strike Tournament

The first Major of 2025 was a smashing success, with Austin boasting one of the liveliest crowds ever seen in the game. Although expected, Vitality lifted the trophy after a breathtaking Grand Finals match against MongolZ.

In all its glory, Majors are the biggest events in Counter-Strike esports, and with people doubting the game’s relevance as the Valorant scene continues to grow, BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 became the most-watched Counter-Strike tournament of all time, breaking records in what people consider a dying scene.

Image via ESPORTS Charts

BLAST Austin Major racked up a whopping 76 million hours watched, taking over PGL Major Stockholm in 2021. Stockholm gave us one of the most memorable Major Grand Finals of all time with s1mple and NiKo both fighting for their first Major. Two apex predators of the game at the peak of their powers, which goes to show that Austin Major managed to generate reach that surpasses even the likes of Stockholm Major.

While most of the names on the list are those of Major Tournaments, each one holding its own significance, to sit on top of that list is something else. BLAST gave a Major that will be hard to top by the organizers that come after this.
