Valve to take action against betting and gambling sites

1

Valve to take action against betting and gambling sites who are using openID API.

There have been enormous number of betting sites available where anyone can go and bet in game items and make money.

But everything has it’s own dark side where people are getting addicted to betting and gambling. As the items used to gamble or bet are basically items from Valve which are ingame cosmetics. Since Valve have left an option to the community for exchanging items with their friends. It is now used as a way of betting and gambling on 3rd party sites.

A recent announcement from Valve states

In 2011, we added a feature to Steam that enabled users to trade in-game items as a way to make it easier for people to get the items they wanted in games featuring in-game economies.

Since then a number of gambling sites started leveraging the Steam trading system, and there’s been some false assumptions about our involvement with these sites. We’d like to clarify that we have no business relationships with any of these sites. We have never received any revenue from them. And Steam does not have a system for turning in-game items into real world currency.

These sites have basically pieced together their operations in a two-part fashion. First, they are using the OpenID API as a way for users to prove ownership of their Steam accounts and items. Any other information they obtain about a user’s Steam account is either manually disclosed by the user or obtained from the user’s Steam Community profile (when the user has chosen to make their profile public). Second, they create automated Steam accounts that make the same web calls as individual Steam users.

Using the OpenID API and making the same web calls as Steam users to run a gambling business is not allowed by our API nor our user agreements. We are going to start sending notices to these sites requesting they cease operations through Steam, and further pursue the matter as necessary. Users should probably consider this information as they manage their in-game item inventory and trade activity.

Valve will soon be taking actions against the betting and gambling websites to improve the community which is moving towards gambling and betting. Since the community is full of youth’s and mainly aged between 15-27, it is important from valve’s point of view to put a stop to Gambling.

This action will also improve the professional gaming scene. As many of players are found betting against their own team and deliberately losing the game for the sake of winning the money attained from betting. This has always been an issue for the community and puts a bad reference to the viewers and newcomers. This action will also allow to decrease the amount of match fixing which have already been a thread to the competitive scene. Eventually, if valve decides to take an action against the current ongoing websites with regards to certain lawsuits. We can see a potential of gambling and betting websites to go down soon.

We here at Talkesport suggest people to withdraw their deposits from such websites as their deposits may be in danger.

Since Many of the websites have now stopped taking deposits and can go down soon. If the website goes down, Valve won’t be responsible for any of your losses since betting and gambling of Valve’s cosmetics are marked illegal by Valve.

Newbee are your Nanyang Dota 2 Champions

Nanyang Dota 2 Championships

Newbee are your Nanyang Dota 2 champions after defeating Wings Gaming in an amazing best of five grand finals.

Both Chinese teams ending up being in the grand finals is a wake up call for all the Western and American teams. Wings Gaming and Newbee are showing the potential to be a threat to all other teams participating at The International 6.

Game Analysis of the Grand Finals of Nanyang Dota 2 Championships.

Game 1

nanyang dota 2 championships - game 1

With a fresh mind and a goal to win the Nanyang dota 2 championships Wings gaming pulls off a pushing lineup Including DK and beastmaster with Necro’s healing power.

The basic goal of wings gaming here was to achieve a tier 3 push by minute 25 by securing their early game. Wings gaming even after securing first blood in the game, Terrorblade was able to get 3 kills on the safe lane which eventually allowed him to start fighting early and stick with the team as five. This allowed newbee to dodge the 5 man death ball push comming out from wings gaming and they were able to secure the game one in a long 52 mins run.

Game 2

nanyang dota 2 championships - game 2

This time things were a bit different from both the sides.

Team Newbee decides to get their hands on to a push lineup including Terrorblade – Dazzle lane and also a Death Prophet in the middle lane. With this 3 picks the push can be scary for any teams losing team fights. Wings Gaming here decides to grab a 4th pick Warlock which is actually forgotten in the meta and grabbing Luna as their last pick which completely surprised the Newbee line up with the damage amplifications by Shadow Demon and Elder Titan.

Game 3

nanyang dota 2 championships - game 3

This time newbee tries to adapt Wings Gaming’s line up by denying the picks and picking that heros insted namely – luna, Dk and Beastmaster as jungle position 4. The push lineup however didn’t work against shadows morphling who dominated the game with a score of 17/1/1 i.e a KDA of 18.

Game 4
Newbee are your Nanyang Dota 2 Champions

Wings Gaming was one step away from be crowned as the Nanyang Dota 2 Champions for Season 2 but newbee came out with an aggressive trio at  the bottom lane. With strong dual core line up of Naga Siren and Weaver, Newbee was able to pull out the game and go to the decider game 5.

Game 5

Newbee are your Nanyang Dota 2 Champions 2

The final game – One who wins takes it all.

This game had some questionable bans by Wings gaming such as viper and medusa.

Since the team decided to pick up Alchemist y would they not ban AA. Picking up 3 invisible heros and not banning up slardar was also a bit questionable from Wings Gaming Side. With a classic drow and huskar at the front line while io overpowering him. Newbee had the game in the bag in 36:19 minutes.

Many of the Western teams have withdrawn from the tournament due to some reasons but its now open that this year Chinese teams will be taking the things to the next level to claim the Agies of Championships at The International 6.

Astralis beats Dignitas, Flipside sends NiP home

The Day 3 of the ESL One Cologne 2016 started with the match between Astralis and dignitas. All the matches on the Day 3 was in a BO3 format. The first map that was decided to be played was Cobblestone.

Astralis started on the CT-side and with the help of ‘karrigan’s three pistol round picks they secured the round. However dignitas replied right afterwards, winning the force buy. Astralis were leading 4-1, until ‘Xyp9x’ picked some important kills for his team to build up the momentum and from then Astralis closed the first half with a scoreline of 10-5. In the second half Astralis with their T-side execution picked up the pistol round and won the following rounds and made the score 13-5. Despite of all this, dignitas came back into the game and won some important rounds and then ‘konfig’ clutched a 1v4 keeping his team alive and dignitas later tied the map at 14-14. The match went into overtime and dignitas finished the first overtime half 17-16 ahead. Triple kill by ‘Tenzki’ in the second half overtime helped dignitas close the map 19-16.

The second map of the match was Mirage and dignitas started on the CT- side and picked up the first round, however they couldn’t stop Astralis in the following rounds and Astralis led the game 7-1. Dignitas tried hard to comeback into the game but astralis pulled off the first half with a scoreline of 13-2. In the second half, dignitas started to again comeback in the game just like the previous map but failed this time and Astralis closed the second map 16-10.

The third and the final map of the match was Cache and things started pretty well for dignitas as ‘Tenzki’ helped them secure the pistol round. Dignitas also won the gun round and were leading the map 5-0, until ‘Xyp9x’ clutched an important round for his team and Astralis came back into the game and closed the first half with a scoreline of 9-6. In the second half pistol round ‘Rubino’ clutched the round and made the score to 9-7 but with the kills coming from ‘Xyp9x’ and ‘Karrigan’ there was no one who could stop them so they closed the map 16-14 and the series 2-1 and advanced to the quarterfinals.

The second match of the ESL One Cologne 2016 was between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Flipsde. The first map that was decided to be played was Overpass.

In the first pistol round ‘Get_right’ picked some important kills and help his team secure the round. Later on Flipsde won a pistol round with the help of ‘waylander’ who picked up three kills from his five seven but were trailing behind 6-2. NiP didn’t let them get any closer and kills from ‘Xizt’ and ‘pyth’ helped them close the first half with a scoreline of 10-5. In the second half Flipside won the pistol round with an B-site execution and then equalizing the score at 10-10. Later on ‘Get_right’ with his CT Side holds made his team climb to the match point with a 15-11 score. Flipside again tried to pull off some rounds and comeback into the game but it just wasn’t sufficient and they lost the map 14-16.

The second map of the match was Cache that was NiP’s pick. Surprisingly Flipside won the first pistol round and then dominated the Ninjas throughout the map, getting kills all over the map Flipside had a full control over the map and leaded in the map 14-1 in the first map. Nip somehow managed to win the second half pistol round but then Flipside’s pistol buy on the second round saw them pick off Nip members and win the force closing out the map 16-2 and moving to the third map.

The third map of the match was Mirage and things started pretty well for Flipside as they won their first pistol round with a A-site take and secured the round. NiP somehow managed to win the gun round but Flipside made a force and again increased their lead to 6-1. NiP picked up some important rounds but trailed behind at the end of the first half with a score of 7-8. In the second half pistol round with the help of ‘markeloff’ and ‘worldedit’ they secured the pistol round but later NiP replied them back by winning the first gun round. Later on ‘Waylander’ picked some very important kills for his team which led Flipside take a lead at 14-11 and then closed down the map with a scoreline of 16-11 eliminating NiP from the tournament.

SK Gaming wins major, two in a row now

The Brazilian side doesn’t seem to be stopping as they have managed to win another CS:GO major, making it two in a row now. SK Gaming beat Liquid 2-0 (16-7 on train and 16-6 on cobblestone) in the grand finals at the LANXESS Arena which was more of like an one-sided affair.

Soon after their signing of the new organization, they had a questionable fate coming their way after being predicted about their loss after fnatic’s full return in the majors. Fnatic, who were the favorites, however, got eliminated in the semi-finals to Liquid, making it grand finals SK Gaming vs Luminosity.

SK Gaming wins major

SK Gaming wins major

The Brazilian side eventually, did manage to close the best-of-three regular series of the major grand final 2-0 in favor of them, which makes the defending champions to conquer the title of the best team in the world yet again after their promising run at MLG Columbus earlier this year.

FalleN and co. had to prove a lot after their controversial signing to SK, definitely they had things going their way but with tons of pressure from the speculations and them choosing to show their back to Luminosity organization certainly raised some questions. But they were able to put all of them down and eventually, winning the major title even with the new organization proving a lot about their individual skill. SK Gaming has now been titled as the best Counter Strike: Global Offensive team in the world, just after 7 days of signing their new roster.
