Olofmeister parts ways with FaZe Clan

FaZe Clan on Twitter have confirmed Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer’s departure from their CS:GO division.

As earlier reported by TalkEsport, Olofmeister has finally decided to step down from FaZe and would evaluate the options for his future. After the win over Team Liquid in their Blast Premier Spring opener, Olof in an interview expressed that he hasn’t made up his mind to yet retire from competition. Earlier today, he revealed Blast Spring to be his last tournament under the David “Coldzera” Marcelo led side where the team qualified for the Spring Finals to be held in June 2020.

Olofmeister will be ending his 4-year long illustrious career at FaZe, where during his time at the same, he helped the European club to bag the runner-up title after falling to Cloud9 in the Grand Finale at the ELEAGUE Boston Major’18.

A former member of Fnatic, Olof signed for FaZe Clan in 2017 and most notably helped the team to first-place finishes at the Esl One New York’17, ECS Season 4 Finals followed by two championships at the Blast Pro series in 2019. Olof, who was on a hiatus until October 2020, chose to once again step in for FaZe after he was poised to fill in the void left by Nikola “NiKo“ Kovac on the active roster which saw the latter joining the multi-talented french side G2 Esports.

Lately, Finn “Karrigan” Anderson, the In-game leader at Mousesports had been linked to his former team whom he represented from 2016 till 2018 after he was recognized by Coldzera as the best In-game leader from across the globe along with Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, and Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo.

According to Coldzera, FaZe will announce their fifth player in either March or April. The European side had recently signed Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken from Team Liquid which saw Kjaerbye moving to the bench. Olofmeister’s Tweet suggests he may be taking a break from competing, although his future still remains unclear.

With Olof’s departure, FaZe Clan are now :

  • Håvard “rain” Nygaard
  • Marcelo “coldzera” David
  • Helvijs “broky” Saukants
  • Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken
  • Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye (benched)
