MAINGEAR, Inc. A private American computer manufacturer brand headquartered in Kenilworth, New Jersey has stepped in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. Maingear has developed a ventilator, the LIV, with the help of an older version of the F131 PC case. LIV is designed in such a way that it is very easy to use featuring automatic operations, a touchscreen interface and several presets. It can start delivering oxygen within 1.5 seconds to the patients.

LIV’s off-shelf components are designed while keeping the entire build cost in mind. As per Maingear, LIV can be built at a quarter of the price of the traditional ventilators. The savings made with the usage of these LIV ventilators instead of the conventional ventilators can make a huge difference for the hospitals that are struggling to cope with the high patient load.

However, LIV is not ready to serve the patients yet as it is still waiting for FDA approval so that it can be used in the US. Maingear is planning to deploy the ventilators in the states of the US as soon as possible and make it available internationally as well.  It will be interesting to see when these ventilators can join the fight against COVID-19 and help save lives.
