DreamHack Delhi Invitational Team Spotlight: Lucid Dream

One of the two teams that booked their slot at DreamHack Delhi through the Qualifying process, Lucid Dream will be looking to play spoilsport for the international teams arriving at the event.

The Squad

Lucid Dream boasts a lineup that has been one of the better ones in South-East Asian Counter Strike for over a year now. Jirayu ‘wannafly’ Meesuk is the longest standing member of the squad, having joined the organization in May, 2018. The 23-year-old has presumably taken over the IGL duties from Phoomphat ‘qqGod’ Phojjanart, who was recently benched by Lucid Dream.

Arguably the star player of the lineup, Kititkawin ‘PTC’ Rattanasukol is a stalwart of the not just the Thai CSGO scene but the entire SEA scene in general. The 21-year-old has tried it out with several iterations under different banners but has returned to the Thai scene to make it work.

The organization chose to bring in Chanawin ‘JohnOlsen’ Nakchain from Beyond Esports in a straight swap with Kritthee ‘Geniuss’ Sawatmuang heading the other way. It is still early days for JohnOlsen in the lineup but he has been giving ample support in terms of firepower to PTC, who is the Primary AWPer.

Thotsaphon ‘cbbk’ Suphatthanaphalaphon is also a long standing member of the squad while new arrival Teerapat ‘Akino’ Jinyong, who joined Lucid Dream in November, 2019 completes the active lineup.

Results – Litmus Test

The highlight for Lucid Dream in 2019 was their participation at DreamHack Masters Dallas. Even though they finished last in their respective group, the experience gathered would prove to be invaluable in the long run.

A top four placement at ESL Pro League Season 10 Asia also proved that they are ready to take on the bigwigs of the Asian scene.

The most high-profile win of the current lineup is their triumph at Taiwan Excellence Esports Cup 2019, which they won in comfortable fashion. The new lineup seems to be working well together and despite the nascent stage of the roster, things look promising.

Lucid Dream have a tough group, with the Thai stack clubbed with CIS powerhouses HellRaisers and YaLLa Esports. With a BO2 Round Robin format, it is likely that we will see Lucid Dream being able to play one favourable map against each of their two opponents.

Expect Lucid Dream to give YaLLa a run for their money for the second spot. The roster will be aiming for a spot in the semi-finals at the very least and it will come down to a straight duel between them and the Middle-Eastern stack.
