Netflix shares DOTA: Dragon’s Blood promo featuring SirActionSlacks

DOTA-netflix dragons blood

18 years ago, Defense of The Ancients (DOTA) originally started off as a Warcraft 3 mod and quickly rose to fame in the hardcore gaming community with it being recognized as one of the most influential and popular mods in any video game as it single-handedly defined the tower defense battle arena genre. After purchasing the rights for the franchise, Valve released a full-fledged standalone successor dubbed DOTA 2 in 2013. Since then, the franchise has ventured into other media such as comics, books but the announcement three weeks ago of the anime adaptation set to release on Netflix this month was surely a welcome surprise for fans of the series.

This is perhaps the first time that DOTA2 is being promoted at a larger scale and with it, Netflix has been marketing the series quite aggressively. Earlier today, Netflix shared a new and unique promo on their NX Twitter handle for newcomers and veterans alike as it focuses on the entire Dota mythology and storyline and how it connects to the upcoming animated adaptation.

But there was yet another surprise awaiting fans as Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner, a prominent figure in the Dota community who is well known for his over-the-top gameplay streams and videos, narrates the lore in this (almost) 6-minute trailer. But that’s not all as Owen “ODPixel” Davies & Jorien “Sheever” van der Heijden, who are also well-renowned figures and Dota 2 content creators were narrating the latter half of this promo.

It’s clear that Netflix is putting in some extra effort on being as accurate as they can as the series’ lore is an integral part of the Dota experience.

Dota: Dragon’s blood releases on March 25 exclusively on Netflix.
