D2CL Season8 Suspended After Teams Pull Out Over Russia-Ukraine War

The Dota 2 Champions League Season 8 has been suspended following the decision of several organizations to withdraw from the tournament in protest against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

According to a recent statement by the Epicenter Twitter handle, further details involving the restart of the tournament will be announced in the future.

“Winline Dota 2 Champions League Season 8 has been suspended,” the statement reads. “We will inform you of the restart details at a later date. At this time, we are unable to ensure the continuation of the tournament.”

“Epic Esports Events is in favour of resolving the current crisis as soon as possible and against any actions that hurt innocent people. We hope to return with good news as soon as possible, we will keep you updated.”

Earlier today, we had seen esports production company Beyond The Summit and organization Alliance announcing their decision to withdraw from the tournament over the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

Renowned Ukrainian esports org Natus Vincere (Na’Vi) also broke off all cooperation with ESFORCE holding, the parent company that owns D2CL, which they announced through a Tweet on March 1st.
