Twitch Revenue Hits “All-Time Low” as Streamers Switch to Kick

Twitch has been bleeding streamers for a long time now as competition from KICK toughens up. This has been readily apparent in the drop in Twitch advertisement revenue, which has hit an “all-time low.”

Reports suggest that Twitch has been losing companies that were bringing in a big chunk of advertising revenue. In addition to this, streamers are also losing potential revenue after streaming on multiple platforms at once. Having the same creator on both platforms gives users less motivation to switch websites and has been a big reason why Twitch is suffering with the emergence of KICK.

“Ad revenue is at an all-time low,” said Knut. “It’s not down to zero, this (graphic) is a little bit overdone, this is a little bit exaggerated. It isn’t cut down to 10%, but it is down.

“I talked to Mizkif about it yesterday as well, and he said he looked at his and when he saw his dashboard, his ad revenue compared to before is so s*it. But it’s good that we have KICK as well that we can help us.”

Although multi-streaming on KICK slashes the revenue down to 50%, having the flexibility of viewership across both platforms keeps creators from sticking to one. Multi-streaming is becoming more and more popular, and unless Twitch can lock in a few content creators exclusively to their platform, it is difficult to see them retain their throne as the most popular video game streaming platform.
