GTA 6 Publisher Dispels AI Myths: Technology Won’t Expedite Game Releases

0

As anticipation for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) continues to mount, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has addressed a pressing question: can artificial intelligence (AI) speed up game development? Zelnick’s stance is clear—despite advancements, AI is unlikely to make game production faster or cheaper.

During a CNBC interview, Zelnick explained that while AI and advanced tools improve efficiency by reducing mundane tasks for creative teams, they don’t necessarily accelerate the process of crafting hit games. “The interactive entertainment business has been in AI forever,” Zelnick remarked. “Our tools help us become more efficient, but it’s going to become commoditized. Everyone will have access to the same tools, and it doesn’t mean things get quicker or cheaper.”

AI’s Role in Game Development

GTA 6

The gaming community has speculated about AI’s impact, particularly after dissecting the first GTA 6 trailer and noticing intricate details in non-player characters (NPCs) and environmental features. While fans theorize that AI could streamline these complex designs, Zelnick emphasized that creativity remains at the heart of game development—a realm where automation falls short.

“Our creative people will focus more on innovative tasks thanks to AI, but it won’t simplify the broader challenge of creating a hit,” Zelnick added, dismissing the idea that technology could drastically reduce production timelines.

Take-Two has reiterated that GTA 6 is on track for its projected 2025 release. Despite delays caused by global disruptions and industry challenges, the company has assured fans of its commitment to delivering a groundbreaking experience. In the meantime, fans have scoured updates for GTA Online and teaser material, searching for clues about the next chapter in Rockstar Games’ iconic franchise.

While technological tools like AI play a supportive role, they are no substitute for the creativity and effort required to produce industry-defining games like GTA 6. As Take-Two’s leadership focuses on maintaining their high standards, fans can rest assured that the wait for GTA 6 is driven by a commitment to excellence, not shortcuts.

Distinction Established Between Real Money Gaming and Video Games in India

0

In a significant milestone for the Indian gaming industry, the government has announced a clear regulatory framework distinguishing Real Money Gaming (RMG) from the broader video gaming sector. This pivotal decision, revealed during the 16th India Game Developer Conference (IGDC), aims to establish tailored rules for each sector, ensuring better governance and economic growth.

The announcement comes after prolonged appeals from industry stakeholders, emphasizing the need for a distinct approach toward the two types of gaming. Under the new system, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) will oversee content aspects, while the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) will manage regulatory frameworks.

Highlighting the importance of the gaming sector, Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the MIB, stated, “Video games are an integral component of India’s media and entertainment landscape, offering immense economic and employment potential.

Boost to AVGC Sector Under “Make in India” Initiative

The government also reiterated its commitment to bolstering the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) sector as part of the Make in India initiative. By fostering innovation and domestic game development, the initiative is set to open new avenues for employment and creative opportunities.

The announcement aligns with India’s aspirations to emerge as a global leader in gaming, leveraging its rich cultural heritage for unique content creation. The recent international success of games like “Black Myth: Wukong” was cited as an inspiration, demonstrating the potential of small-scale game projects evolving into global phenomena.

The separation of RMG from video games marks a crucial step in ensuring sustainable development for both industries. This clarity not only protects consumer interests but also incentivizes innovation and investment in the Indian gaming ecosystem.

By addressing long-standing challenges, the government has paved the way for a more structured and flourishing gaming landscape, with tangible benefits for developers, players, and investors alike.

The Indian gaming industry now stands at the cusp of unprecedented growth and clarity. With distinct regulatory frameworks for RMG and video gaming, the sector is poised for a transformative phase, unlocking its full potential. This regulatory milestone, coupled with initiatives like Make in India, underscores the government’s commitment to making India a global hub for game development and innovation.

In addition to the visual upgrades across the map, players tuning into Overpass will also be able to notice significant performance improvements in specific areas like Canals and B-site as a result of the shallow water being removed.

Alongside performance improvements, the B-site has received minor tweaks to enable players to move more freely through the bomb site. The handcart behind the barrels in B-site has also been removed.

Other than that, various objects on the map have received adjustments for better visibility.

  • Removed some trees and objects around park and train station that prevented players from backing into certain useful spaces.

T1 Re-Signs Keria After LoL Worlds 2024 Victory

0

Following their victory at the League of Legends World Championship 2024, T1 has re-signed their support player Ryu “Keria” Min-seok with a new multi-year contract.

The news was confirmed in an X (formerly Twitter) post by the official T1 handle. The organization announced that Keria’s contract has been extended through 2026.

With this move, Keria will be aiming for his third consecutive Worlds victory with the T1 LoL roster.

The South Korean LoL pro is known for his vast Champion pool and his ability to consistently make plays with Champs that are not in the meta.

“I have re-signed with T1 for a multi-year contract,” Keria said in a video. “I’m so pleased to continue with T1 for two years. As I won Worlds twice at T1, I know that there are more goals that I can achieve at T1.”

Keria’s previous contract with T1 was due to end on November 18, 2024. This date also applies to three other members of the T1 roster: Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun, and Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong.

Fan Favorite Train Is Back in CS2

One of the most iconic maps in the history of Counter-Strike is back in the game. After ages of fans calling for it to be brought back, we have a remodeled version of the map that keeps up with the visual changes brought to CS2.

Train has given us some of the most iconic moments in Counter Strike like Summit molly. Several top-tier matches have been played on this map which etched itself into the history of the game. The map is indifferent in its fundamentals when compared to the others on the Active Duty pool, which gives a sense of refreshment.

As hyped as everyone is, Train will return to the game but will not return to the Active Duty Map pool. As of now, the developers have limited the game to certain game modes, namely casual, deathmatch, and competitive.

It is likely to be added after the Major has concluded and we are welcoming the new season of Counter-Strike starting in 2025. Bringing Train into the Active Duty Map pool would mean significant changes for professional teams as their map-centric preparations might go in vain if one of the maps from the pool is removed. A new map would bring a feeling of uncertainty and it is for the better to have the map sidelined.

Latest CS2 Update Brings Back Train

Arguably one of the biggest updates in CS2, the November 14th update brings several performance and in-game enhancements to the game that will improve the overall experience for players but the highlight of the update is the introduction of fan-favorite map Train.

Fans have been complaining about the lack of changes in the map pool as CS2 was missing iconic maps like Train and Cobble. Since their removal from the active duty map pool, the developers did not throw any hints at their comeback until today. Train is available across Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch modes.

Other than a new map, CS2 gets Damage Prediction, a system designed in a way that will predict the exchange of damage in a gunfight without running it by the server which would result in a smoother gameplay experience. Suffice it to say that this system will be inactive for players with high ping.

Counter-Strike 2 Update

[ DAMAGE PREDICTION ]

Added damage prediction settings. Damage prediction allows clients to immediately play the audio/visual effects of inflicting damage without waiting for confirmation from the server. Damage prediction can make shooting feel significantly more responsive, but comes with the risk of occasionally being wrong (e.g. due to aim punch, tagging, or a death that your client isn’t yet aware of).
Predicted body shot effects (disabled by default), head shot effects (disabled by default), and kill ragdolls (enabled by default) can each be toggled separately.
Damage prediction is not active when you have high ping.

[ ANIMATION ]

Updated the third-person animation that plays when a player is blinded by a flashbang. The animation now accurately represents the player’s visibility level, and the pose will only show the player’s arm covering their eyes when they are completely blinded.
Fixed a case where legs weren’t animating correctly while taking damage.

[ GRAPHICS ]

Added ambient occlusion for first person legs to better ground them in the environment.
Performance optimizations for molotov and incendiary effects.

[ GRENADES ]

Added axis labels to the grenade line-up reticle tick marks.
The grenade preview camera now shows the result of a jump throw while the jump button is held.

[ MAP GUIDES ]

Added a map guide for Train, which demonstrates four simple Terrorist grenade line-ups. To load a map guide, go to Play→Practice and toggle “Load Map Guides” on.
Added concommands annotation_* which enable the creation, saving, and loading of map guide nodes and files, which are stored in /annotations/.

[ MISC ]

New game settings for radar map blending and background opacity.
Fixed a case where progress from a previously completed Armory Pass would show during activation of a new pass.
Fixed a regression with Chinese input via the Microsoft Input Methods.
CSTV now allows setting tv_delay and tv_delay1 to a value smaller than 6 seconds.
Charm Template number is now available in Charm descriptions.

[ MAPS ]

Added Train to Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch modes.
