Why Valkyrae will keep her chat for members only

Valkyrae has announced that she will be keeping her chat for members only to keep trollers from spreading hate speech during her streams.

Valkyrae was recently named as a co-owner of 100 Thieves but as she moves onto taking new challenges under her belt, some trollers are spreading hate on her chat thus spoiling the mood of the stream. In light of such people, Valkyrae has limited her chat to members who pay to watch her stream which filters out nearly all such haters.

“Since the last stream, I decided that was the final straw. It’s not a member vs non-member thing, it’s just a respect thing, and there are zero moderation tools on YouTube. I am not going to have it out of member’s mode ever again,” she said.

The lack of moderation tools on YouTube makes it hard for her to find an alternate solution to the problem. Unlike Twitch, YouTube doesn’t have the necessary tools to filter out the chat which can be done by moderators that must be appointed by the streamer herself.

“Chat has affected me way too much, and there’s just not enough utility to moderate a chat that is as active and fast as this one,” she added.
“People were trolling about the BLM movement and stuff, and just being entirely disrespectful to the point where it’s like, I don’t want to see that anymore.
“Those of you that have been watching me since I switched to YouTube know that I’ve been trying my best not to make it members-only chat … but I’m officially convinced it’s impossible, and I’m not going to feel guilty for having it in members-only mode anymore.”

Seems like she has had enough of these and the only way to interact with the stream is to pony up for the membership. She hinted at removing the members only restriction on special occasions but for the better part of the year her stans must become members to use the chat function.
