In preparation for the highly anticipated VCT Americas Last Chance Qualifier, set to begin on July 15, the Sentinels have implemented a major alteration to their Valorant roster. Hunter ‘SicK’ Mims, one of the original players on the Sentinels’ Valorant team, has been removed from the roster, as reported by the Global Contract Database.

Sentinels remove SicK from Valorant roster ahead of LCQ

SicK’s departure from the team represents the latest development concerning the player since his public apology for his past social media behavior and conduct, as conveyed in a Tweet on June 1. Following his apology, SicK has demonstrated a remarkable improvement in his social media conduct and has actively engaged in therapy, with the generous support of Sentinels.

On March 4, 2023, SicK encountered legal repercussions when he was arrested for criminal trespassing after an incident at a Ferrari dealership in Texas. He served an 11-day confinement period and faced an internal suspension from Sentinels during his time in jail. Unfortunately, after his release, SicK’s behavior exhibited increasing unpredictability both on social media and during his live streams.

To fill the void left by SicK’s departure, the Sentinels organization has acquired Jimmy ‘Marved’ Nguyen, who formerly played for OpTic Gaming, as a substitute. Marved has subsequently been included in the Sentinels’ lineup during the final weeks of the VCT Americas competition.

On May 8, 2023, SicK faced similar charges and was released the following day. Additionally, he received a temporary ban from Twitch for one week following his second arrest.

Throughout this series of events, SicK remained officially registered as a player for Sentinels in the Global Contract Database. However, the team has now taken the decisive step of removing him from the roster entirely, as he no longer appears as an active member. In his place, Drew “DrewSpark” Spark-Whitworth, the team’s assistant coach, is now listed as a player.

As of now, neither Sentinels nor SicK have made any public statements regarding his removal. SicK’s future with the organization remains uncertain, and he may find himself in a situation similar to that of his former teammate, Jared ‘zombs’ Gitlin, transitioning from a player to a streamer under the organization’s brand.

The timing of this roster change is particularly noteworthy, as the VCT Americas Last Chance Qualifier swiftly approaches. The tournament is scheduled to commence on July 15, with seven teams vying for the region’s final slot in the world championship. These teams aim to secure their place after failing to qualify for VCT Masters Tokyo and Valorant Champions 2023.
