Professional LoL player and legend Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng announced his retirement from the game on Twitter. The TwitLonger post stated that he “ felt deeply grateful for the opportunity to make a career out of the one thing in life I have loved above all else.”
Regarded as one of the best players of NA, Doublelift started his career with CLG in 2011. While initially struggling with performances, he quickly rose through the ranks to be one of the hottest prospects in the NA scene. Having finally tasted his first success by winning the LCS in 2015, he shifted to TSM, where he really started flourishing with 2 more titles.
After 3 solid years at TSM, he left to join Team Liquid, where he had arguably his greatest and most dominant spell. At Liquid he won 4 more titles taking his tally to 7 and etching himself in history as the most successful LoL player.
After a disastrous 2020, he rejoined TSM, and although he won another LCS with them, ultimately the team’s overall poor performance meant that he decided to retire completely.
Doublelift will find himself in the history books as one of the best and most successful players in NA LOL history. The question now arises for TSM on how they will fill the ADC void left by him.
