A news network of the Philippines has reported that the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Baguio City, Philippines has hosted a LAN tournament of the Warcraft 3 mod DotA for inmates to develop their mental state.

The news which was first reported by Flipino radio station “95.7 Brigada News FM Koronadal” shows a DotA tournament being held inside the walls of the Baguio City Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) with the inmates participating in the LAN tournament as a part of their rehab program.

The inmates were all supplied with face masks which is necessary to check the spread of COVID-19 during the ongoing pandemic.

Defence of the Ancients (DotA) is a complex team-based strategy game requiring immense focus and critical thinking to come out on top of the other team, making the game an ideal choice for playing with an aim at rehabilitation of inmates. Besides this DotA is still a widely popular game in the Philippines, although not nearly as much as its successor, DotA 2. The game is often compared to Chess, but with even more complexity added to it.

Since the post was uploaded to Facebook, it has gained a huge amount of traction among people worldwide, many of whom are praising the jail authorities in the Philippines for attempting such a creative and unique way for the rehab of prisoners.
