Xyp9x to replace Gla1ve in BLAST Premier Fall Groups

Astralis' in-game leader Gla1ve to take paternity leave as he is going to be a father in the coming months.

-

A few months ago, Astralis replaced Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth with 18-years-old AWPer Philip “Lucky” Ewald, the newest recruit by the team. As a result, the Clutch Minister missed ESL Pro League Season 14 and Astralis failed to qualify for the knockout stage.

A few months ago in March 2021, the Danish in-game leader Lukas “Gla1ve” Rossander publicly announced that he is going to be a father in about six months saying,

WE ARE GOING TO BE PARENTS. In about 6 months, 2 will turn into 3. We don’t know if it’s going to be a boy or girl yet, but we can’t wait to find out. Exciting times ahead.

Now, Gla1ve has officially declared that he is not going to play the upcoming BLAST Premier Fall Groups as he wants to focus on his role as a father. Therefore, Xyp9x will replace him in the upcoming tournaments. However, Astralis haven’t yet proclaimed who is going to be the in-game leader. Maybe we will see Emil “Magisk” Reif as the IGL as he occupied the role last year when Gla1ve was on a leave.

Gla1ve added on his paternity leave,

I really want to play, but I also did not want to put the team in a position where they had to change a player while a tournament was going on. Together with Danny, I am doing everything to prepare and help the team get ready for the BLAST group stage.

According to sources, Xyp9x has already started practicing with rest of the Astralis players. However, Gla1ve hasn’t yet got detached from the team as he is still practicing on server with head coach Danny ‘zonic’ Sørensen.

The BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2021 will start between 16th to 18th September.

After Gla1ve’s replacement, the Astralis team will look like:

  • Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen
  • Emil “Magisk” Reif
  • Philip “Lucky” Ewald
  • Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen
  • Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth
  • Danny “zonic” Sørensen (coach)
