G2 Beats Imperial to Reach Blast Open Lisbon Upper Bracket Semi-finals

G2 has taken down a tricky Imperial side to reach the Group B Upper Bracket Semi-Finals of Blast Open Lisbon. While the second map was a team effort, Mirage had huNter dropping the best performance of his CS career with 36 kills.

Veto

  • Imperial removed Ancient
  • G2 removed Train
  • Imperial picked Mirage
  • G2 picked Inferno
  • Imperial removed Nuke
  • G2 removed Dust2
  • Anubis was left over

Map 1: Mirage; Pick: Imperial; Winner: G2

Mirage being their strongest map, Imperial’s hot start put G2 5-0 behind before the comeback started. G2’s response came in the form of a 6-round win-streak as Imperial won the final round of the half to level the scoreline before the second half. While Imperial managed their best work on the offense, their defense crumbled as G2’s offense did not let Imperial find their footing. G2 looked much better on the offense, led by huNter who dropped 36 frags, giving the Brazilian side little room for a comeback, and eventually G2 managed to close the map with a 13-8 scoreline.

Map 2: Inferno; Pick: G2; Winner: G2

With both teams being inseparable for the few rounds early in the map, G2 managed to carve out a 2 round lead by the end of the first half. Despite G2 winning 7 rounds, previous matches had shown how shaky their defense can be. Off the back of a pistol round, Imperial managed to win 5 rounds before G2 could get back on the board. G2 did manage to recover but Imperial managed to level the scoreline in Round 22, leaving Imperial no choice but to play for OT. The final round of the game had Imperial setting up an A split but G2 having a read on the play managed to push the game over the line, winning the series.

G2 are through but Imperial will have another shot to progress further into the tournament. The Brazilian side will now have to fight it out from the lower bracket but given their performance, it is likely that they will be able to take down some of the big names and reach the playoffs.

0

G2 Esports, a global leader in entertainment and esports, proudly announces the successful completion of its Series B investment round, securing a seven-figure sum to fuel its next phase of growth. The round, led by WISE Ventures – the investment arm of the Wilf family – introduces a powerhouse lineup of new investors, including The Tornante Company (owned by former Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney Company CEO Michael Eisner), entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk, and G2’s own leadership team. Existing investors also increased their stakes, underscoring confidence in G2’s vision.

The capital will drive G2’s global expansion, fund ventures into new gaming titles, and enhance its direct-to-fan offerings. A significant portion will support G2’s deepened investment in the Call of Duty League (CDL), following its acquisition of Version1’s Minnesota Rokkr slot – building on a strategic partnership with the Wilf family that began in late 2023. With over 100 first-place finishes across titles like League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2, VALORANT, Sim Racing, and Rainbow Six Siege, G2 continues to solidify its reputation as one of the world’s most decorated esports organizations.

Funds will also diversify G2’s fan-focused initiatives, including upgrades to its app, major content projects, and unannounced campaigns. Boasting over 30 million fans worldwide and partnerships with brands like Mastercard, Red Bull, Ralph Lauren, and Oakley, G2 aims to cement esports as the next generation of sports entertainment.

New investors join a prestigious roster with ties to McLaren Racing, the Baltimore Orioles (MLB), and the Tampa Bay Lightning (NHL). Returning investors, such as Jens Hilgers (Bitkraft, ESL) and Al Tylis (part-owner of Wrexham AFC), also bolstered their commitments.

“This milestone reflects G2’s strength – profitable in three of the last four years – and our ambition to lead as a next-generation sports organization,” said CEO Alban Dechelotte. WISE Ventures Principal Konrad von Moltke praised G2’s “strategic vision and operational excellence,” while Jonathan Wilf of Version1 hailed the partnership’s potential to deliver more championships.

As G2 celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025, fans can anticipate exclusive events, merchandise collaborations, and content drops honoring a decade of success and a bold future ahead.

CS: Legacy – A Standalone Counter-Strike 1.6 Remake Hits Steam in 2025

Modders behind the iconic CSPromod project have revealed CS: Legacy, a standalone remake of Counter-Strike 1.6, one of the most influential first-person shooter (FPS) titles in gaming history.

Announced on March 16, 2025, via an official YouTube trailer, this fan-made effort aims to revive the 2003 classic with modern enhancements while staying true to its roots. Slated for an Early Access release on Steam later this year, CS: Legacy has already sparked excitement among veteran players and newcomers alike.

A Faithful Remake Built from Scratch

Unlike typical mods, CS: Legacy is a fully standalone title, developed with 100% custom game code and assets. The team, leveraging Valve’s 2013 Source Engine SDK, has rewritten key systems like the renderer and shaders to deliver a polished experience. The goal? To recreate every detail of Counter-Strike 1.6-from its tight gunplay to bunny-hop mechanics-while introducing high-definition textures and audio effects. Classic maps like Nuke and Pool Day return, blending nostalgia with a fresh coat of paint.

CSPromod’s Legacy Continues

The CS: Legacy team isn’t new to the Counter-Strike scene. Previously known for CSPromod-a 2006 mod that aimed to refine Counter-Strike: Source-these developers bring decades of expertise to the table. CSPromod sought to bridge the gap between CS 1.6 and its successor but never fully launched.

Now, CS: Legacy picks up where it left off, fulfilling a long-standing dream to modernize the classic without losing its soul. The trailer, which has garnered over 500,000 views, showcases this dedication with revamped visuals and authentic gameplay snippets.

Why Counter-Strike 1.6 Still Matters

Counter-Strike 1.6 remains a cornerstone of competitive gaming. Released over two decades ago, it pioneered the FPS esports scene with LAN tournaments and a massive player base. Even today, it retains a loyal following, with community servers still active.

The rise of Counter-Strike 2 hasn’t dimmed its appeal, as many fans prefer the original’s simplicity over modern iterations. CS: Legacy taps into this nostalgia, offering a chance to relive the glory days with updated tech.

Steam Release and Community Hopes

Set for a 2025 Early Access debut on Steam, CS: Legacy faces an optimistic yet cautious reception. Valve’s history with fan projects-like the halted Classic Offensive mod-raises questions about potential roadblocks. However, the team’s use of custom assets and Valve’s pro-modding stance offer hope. Fans can follow updates via the project’s official channels as development progresses.

Astralis Extends Staehr’s Contract Until 2027 | CS2 News

Astralis, the renowned Danish Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) organization, has locked in rifler Victor “Staehr” Staehr with a contract extension running until mid-2027. Announced on March 18, 2025, this move ensures the 20-year-old remains a cornerstone of the team as they aim to reclaim their dominance in the competitive scene.

Staehr, who joined Astralis in June 2023 from Sprout, has proven himself as a vital supportive player. His extension follows a strong 2024 season, where he helped the team secure a third-place finish at PGL Cluj-Napoca and semi-final berths at IEM Chengdu and ESL Pro League Season 19. “We are in a great place as a team,” Staehr said in a statement to HLTV, emphasizing his desire to continue Astralis’ upward trajectory.

A Key Move for Astralis’ Future

The extension aligns with Astralis’ strategy of building long-term stability. Sports Director Kasper Straube highlighted Staehr’s importance, stating, “A player like Staehr is a priority for us.” With all current players now under contract for the coming years, the organization is poised to refine its roster and chase titles.

Since joining, Staehr has been praised for his talent. In 2023, teammate Nicolai “device” Reedtz called him “one of the best talents we’ve had in Denmark in five years.” This extension, coming just six months after device’s own renewal through 2026, signals confidence in the team’s core.

Staehr’s Impact on the Team

Staehr’s role as a rifler has bolstered Astralis’ gameplay, complementing stars like device and in-game leader Casper “cadiaN” Møller. While the team hasn’t lifted a major trophy since 2020, their recent performances suggest they’re closing the gap. Straube noted, “We’re not there yet, but we have the quality and mentality to compete for titles over time.”

The young Dane expressed optimism about the squad’s progress. “It’s been my clear priority to extend my contract so we can keep building,” he said. His commitment reflects a shared vision to return Astralis to its former glory.

What’s Next for Astralis?

With Staehr secured until 2027, Astralis can focus on upcoming events like BLAST Open Lisbon and PGL Bucharest. Fans hope this stability will translate into silverware soon. For now, this contract extension marks a significant step forward for the Danish powerhouse.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the detailed patch notes for the Valorant 10.05 update, as already confirmed by the devs:

ALL PLATFORMS

COMPETITIVE UPDATES

  • Ranked Rollbacks are live!
    • If you lost RR due to a match against a confirmed cheater in the last week, you will be eligible for an RR refund!
    • Here’s how it works:
      • You will get a pop-up notification showing the exact amount of RR being refunded.
      • To apply the refunded RR, you must complete one Competitive match.
      • Once you finish that match, the refunded RR will be reflected in your End of Game summary screen—win or lose, the refund still gets added to your total RR for that game.
      • Important: Ranked Rollbacks are only valid within the current Act and there is a cap per Act. If you qualify for a refund, be sure to play a game before the Act ends to claim it!

BUG FIXES

Fixed a bug where it would take several seconds to reconnect to comms when going back to the custom game lobby after match.

It’s important to note that Ranked Rollbacks are only valid within the current Act, which means that you won’t receive any RR refund if you’ve lost to a cheater in the past Act.
