Thug Defends Team SouL Coach Mayavi’s Role Amidst BGIS 2024 Team Bans

In a recent turn of events surrounding Krafton’s decision to ban four Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2024 teams for Code of Conduct violations, the spotlight has fallen on the controversial history of one of the banned teams, Megastars, and its former association with Shubham “Mayavi” Chawla, now the coach of Team SouL. S8UL Esports’ co-owner Animesh “Thug” Agarwal recently shared his perspective on the matter.

Thug Extends Support to Team SouL’s Coach Mayavi in Cheating Accusations

Megastars, formerly known as Team Mayavi during Mayavi’s mentorship, found themselves under scrutiny for alleged cheating during their tenure. Mayavi defended the team for a long time, but had to part ways due to the growing accusations. Earlier this year, Team SouL announced the joining of Mayavi as the coach of Team SouL.

Responding to calls from viewers to remove Mayavi from the organization in light of the ban, S8UL Esports’ co-owner Animesh “Thug” Agarwal defended Mayavi’s position in the team. Thug stated that Mayavi was hired for proficiency in his role, which he has been fulfilling well

Thug then addressed two key points regarding the ban and Mayavi’s involvement. Firstly, he questioned Krafton’s timing in imposing the ban, suggesting that if issues had persisted during Mayavi’s tenure with Megastars, action would have been taken earlier. “Firstly, if the problem existed when Mayavi was associated with them, then Krafton would have banned the team then and there. However, Krafton itself invited and allowed the team to play BGIS 2023 and BMPS 2023,” said Thug.

“Secondly, since Mayavi joined S8UL Esports, he has only been working with 4-5 players that are on the team (Team SouL). He also lives at our bootcamp. We don’t understand why the team was banned only after playing this tournament. We don’t know what these guys were up to since Mayavi left them,” added Thug.
