Nintendo Raises Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch Online Prices Amid Rising Costs

Nintendo has officially confirmed the price hike for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, along with its online membership across the global market, following the rise of uncertainties in the semiconductor and memory component supply chain and costs.

According to reports, Nintendo Switch 2 price in the United States will see a hike from $449.99 to $499.99 from September 2026, upon which Canada and Europe are expected to follow suit. The price hike was officially justified as a measure taken to tackle the “changes in market conditions” which have resulted in higher production costs.

The company will also be adjusting the pricing of the highly popular Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions in some regions, where we are expected to find a new pricing structure in the coming days, and the intent would be to offset operational and hardware manufacturing costs.

The growing demand for memory chips in the AI market has shaken the supply chain to its very core. The impact was noticed by all hardware companies, which makes it surprising that it took Nintendo this long to readjust the prices despite a tumultuous year.

With other companies raising their prices, gamers are left with no choice but to accept the situation and take the hit, and unless the supply chain returns to its normal flow, it is unlikely that pricing will decrease.
