ESIC bans 37 CSGO Coaches for using Spectator Bug Exploitation

Esports Integrity Commission has issued bans on 37 top flight CSGO coaches for abusing the spectator bug.

Spectator bug came to light right after, Heroic took ESL One Cologne home, and to their misfortune, their coach HUNDEN was first to be accused of exploitation. Being an underdog team and taking down teams who are much higher up in the ranking table rained down the suspicions on them form the community.

After knowing, ESIC took charge of the matter and consulted with veteran esports referee  Michal Slowinski to resolve the issue. Slowinski was tasked with looking into demos across several competitions to figure out the abuses. Since then, several coaches owned up to exploiting it to give their team the upper hand, and finally, after the monthlong investigation, ESIC has named 37 individuals who are convicted and are handed bans which only concludes 20% of the total investigation.

Teams are choosing to part ways with their coaches while others are offering them a second chance at redemption. One of the coaches lucky enough to get a second stint includes OG coach Casper “Casper” Due. OG in their official statement acknowledged Casper’s mistake and decided not to part ways with him and wait until his ban is lifted.

Some players are coming out to defend their coaches. FaZe Clan’s Havard ‘rain’ Nygaard defended his former coach RobbaN in his tweet saying that they never received any information through him which they shouldn’t have.

It is shocking to see that 20% of the ESIC investigation would reveal 37 coaches already. It is important that this matter is taken seriously and a precedent is established which prevents anyone from exploiting bugs in any esports in the near future. Michal Slowinski’s contribution to the scene has been unrivaled, his hard work has kept the scene in check which went under the radar until now.
