ZOWIE G-SR-SE Mouse Pad (RED) for e-Sports: Review

Choosing a Mousepad is always about personal preference. Many factors determine the ideal mousepad for a gamer, including its size, dimensions, the type of cloth used and the amount of resistance it offers among various other factors. Today I shall be going through the Zowie G-SR-SE (Red), which is a premium mousepad often being used by professional gamers, and find out whether it is worth the hype.

Design

The G-SR-SE comes in a sleek cardboard box with a transparent hole that reveals the colour of the mousepad (The G-SR-SE comes in both blue and red). The mousepad has dimensions of 18.5 x 15.3, making it one of the bigger mousepads used for gaming. The rolled up mousepad, once laid out, reveals a catchy shade of vibrant red that just begs for your attention and is very pleasing to the eye.

The logos are very minimalistic, with a BENQ logo on the bottom left and a Zowie badge on the top right being the only real text apart from an otherwise clean mousepad. I really liked the graphical design in the centre, with a pattern of squares and lines at different depths giving it the richness of a premium mousepad, and the light Zowie logo in the background stamping its authority.

Impressions

The G-SR-SE is made of cloth wrapped around a soft rubber base. This means that it offers very less resistance, allowing gamers to move their hands freely and fast, and is ideal for players with lower sensitivities and awpers who flick a lot. Generally, mousepads that are softer and offer more speed compromise on control and tend to slip when moved too fast, but surprisingly, that is not the case here. The G-SR-SE feels smooth, and movements are very free, without the feeling of the friction being low and ever feeling the loss of any movement.

The logos in the mousepad are not raised, making the entire mousepad flat. Furthermore, the edges are even throughout the surface, which is very rare in a mousepad, and this is a good thing, as it does not compromise on movement anywhere across the surface. Finally, the pad is very stable and when I tried to move it, it stayed put, which is again rare in a soft base mousepad.

Final Thoughts

In Conclusion, I really believe that the Zowie G-SR-SE is worth the hype and is a contender for one of the best mousepads, as it suits almost all kinds of gamers and does not compromise on quality anywhere. The only concern I share is that with all soft mousepads, it does not seem to be durable and being made of cloth it is a bit difficult to clean and remove dirt. With the former, I can only really test its durability with extended usage, and with the latter, well, you just have to be more careful.

I will reiterate, the mousepad will not improve your aim magically, nor is it suited for everyone, but what it will do is give you a sense of comfort and responsiveness that will act as a base to take your gaming experience to the next level.
