Krafton India Esports has officially introduced the Fairplay Shield App, a new anti-cheat system for BGMI esports tournaments, starting with BGIS 2026. The app has been made mandatory for all participating teams to ensure fair play and reduce cheating during online stages of the competition.
Cheating and hacking have been long-standing issues in BGMI tournaments, especially because the initial rounds are played online with players competing from their homes. With Fairplay Shield, Krafton aims to strengthen monitoring and maintain competitive integrity throughout the tournament.
What Is Fairplay Shield App? BGMI’s Anti-Cheat System for BGIS 2026 Explained
The Fairplay Shield App is the official anti-cheat application of Krafton India Esports for BGIS 2026. It works alongside BGMI to verify players, monitor devices, and detect unfair practices during official matches. All players participating in BGIS 2026 are required to install and use this app.
How to Register on BGMI Fairplay Shield App
Players must download the Fairplay Shield App and register using their KIE ID, followed by OTP verification. After registration, players are required to grant all necessary permissions, including camera access, location access, phone state access, usage access, and battery optimisation exemption. Once these permissions are granted, players must confirm their device.
After device confirmation, the same device must be used throughout the tournament. Device changes are not allowed, except during LAN stages, where exceptions may be permitted.

How Krafton Fairplay Shield Works Before Every Match
Before each official match, players must complete a verification process inside the Fairplay Shield App. A match code is provided in the app, which players must select from the dropdown menu. The app then asks for a selfie to verify the player’s identity, followed by a system scan to check the device.
Once the scan is completed, players can start the session. BGMI will open automatically, or it can be opened manually if needed. A second selfie is required to continue gameplay. After the session ends, players can view match details by tapping the “Go to Home” option in the app.
Handcam Verification Process
For handcam verification, players need to scan a QR code provided by the tournament officials and complete all required checks inside the Fairplay Shield App. This process ensures that players are not using emulators, secondary devices, or any unfair methods during gameplay.
The Fairplay Shield App is available on both Android and iOS, making it accessible to all BGMI esports players. Krafton has ensured that the app supports players across different platforms without restrictions.
Why Krafton India Esports Introduced Fairplay Shield
Every year, cheating has been a major challenge in BGMI tournaments, mainly because early stages are conducted online and involve thousands of teams. To counter this, Krafton previously introduced full POV recording, mandatory handcam footage, and even started hosting offline LAN matches from earlier stages, such as the semi-finals in BMSD 2025, where earlier only Grand Finals were played on LAN.
However, hosting an entire tournament offline is not practical due to the massive scale of participation. The Fairplay Shield App is Krafton India Esports’ latest attempt to bridge this gap by strengthening online match monitoring while keeping the tournament accessible.
The introduction of the Fairplay Shield App could play a crucial role in improving fairness and transparency in BGIS 2026. If implemented effectively, it may significantly reduce cheating cases and provide a more competitive environment for genuine teams in BGMI esports.
