FDA Investigating PRIME Energy Drink After US Senator Calls for Probe

The Prime energy drink brand is facing criticism following a letter written by a US Senator to the Food and Drug Administration, requesting an investigation, especially on the caffeine levels of the drink.

The energy drink created by Logan Paul and KSI, called Prime, has achieved significant popularity since its introduction in January 2023. However, it hasn’t been without its fair share of controversies, especially when a student from Wales suffered a cardiac arrest after drinking PRIME.

PRIME was endorsed by KSI and Logan Paul, two of the biggest social media celebrities that helped the drink skyrocket in a span of a few months. The controversies surrounding it have attracted the attention of US Senator Charles Schumer who has called for the FDA to look into the health concerns surrounding PRIME energy drink.

Schumer said, “One of the summer’s hottest status symbols for kids is not an outfit or a toy — it’s a beverage. But buyers and parents beware because it’s a serious health concern for the kids it so feverishly targets.”

According to the senator, PRIME has an abnormally high amount of caffeine which in no shape or form is good for your health and the FDA will be investigating this. Despite PRIME harping on the fact that they are completely sugar-free, the massive 200g caffeine, which is significantly more than the likes of RedBull has put them on FDA’s radar.

Now that the concern has been raised through proper government channels, we are yet to see if FDA looks into it and how their findings will alter the future of the energy drink brand.
