Fans of League of Legends and Valorant are in for a treat as the developer of their favorite games just casually announced an MMO in development that is set in the same universe as League of Legends.

In a tweet today, Riot VP Greg Street starts by talking about how the company is working on a new massive game to help expand the League universe and are hiring people to work with.

I have news! My recent job at Riot has been to help develop the League universe, which we’re going to need! Because it is time. My new job is to kick off a big (some might say massive) game that many of you, and many Rioters, have been asking us to create. PS We’re hiring

Later when a fan asked what type of game was he working on and if it was an MMO, Greg went ahead and replied, “It is an MMO”.

No concept art, no press release, no teaser trailer, or any other thing, Riot just casually announced an MMO game through a Tweet. Although now that it’s confirmed an MMO is in the works, it doesn’t mean it will be available soon.

Going by the scale of League Universe and elements involved in an MMO game, it is safe to say we are 4-5 years early for any teaser trailer or concept art.

Right now the game might only be in an initial concept stage on a whiteboard in a meeting room at Riot. So it’s best not to hype up things so early or we might end up with another overhyped game like Cyberpunk 2077, that falls flat to deliver on promises.
