Mobile gaming revenue rises by 27% as compared to last year due to pandemic.

Player spending in mobile games rises by 27% year-over-year in the first half of 2020, to $19.3 billion according to SensorTown reports.

According to the reports, the revenue rose by 10.3% as compared to first quarter of year 2020, with a 16% rise in player spendings to $17.5 billion on year-over-year basis. The revenue peaked to $6.6 million during month of May.

There was an incredible surge in game downloads as compared to previous years where the number of downloads increased by 45.3% on Y/Y basis for the first half of 2020. The total number of game downloads now cross 15 billion globally, attaining the peak in April with 5.5 billion downloads.

India is included in the top three countries in terms of game download as the numbers rose from 1.8 billion to 2.7 billion on quarterly basis, a surge of 50% in Q2.

PUBG Mobile ranks at the top of list, generating $621 million in this quarter. Although their revenue is down by 8% as compared to Q1, the average revenue is still rising.

Games like Roblox, Pokémon GO and Fortnite skyrocketed in the revenue charts in Q2, especially Fortnite. Fortnite is one of the top grossing games on App Store in 2020 till now, with a rise of over 110% in player spendings on a quarterly basis.
