The M7 World Championship, the global tournament for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), is set to be held in Indonesia in January 2025. Organised by MOONTON Games, the event will bring together top MLBB teams from around the world to compete for the world title and a USD 1 million prize pool. The tournament will feature an opening ceremony, multiple competition stages, in-game events like the M7 Pass, brand partnerships, and a fan-focused M7 Carnival in Jakarta. Below are the key details shared during the official MLBB M7 World Championship press conference.
Indonesia to Host the MLBB M7 World Championship
The M7 World Championship will be hosted in Indonesia, returning the MLBB world event to the country where the esports ecosystem for the game is considered one of the strongest. Jakarta will act as the main hub for the tournament, with several activities planned across the city. According to MOONTON Games, the event is designed as a large-scale esports showcase inspired by major international sporting events.
M7 Opening Ceremony Scheduled for 9 January
For the first time in M Series history, the M7 will feature a dedicated opening ceremony. The ceremony is scheduled for 9 January and will focus on combining MLBB esports with elements of Indonesian culture. The concept is built around a cinematic presentation that moves through well-known landmarks in Jakarta, highlighting the mix of tradition and modern esports culture.
MOONTON Games stated that the ceremony aims to reflect the growth of MLBB esports in Indonesia, where the MPL Indonesia league has consistently recorded high viewership numbers over the past few seasons.
Statements from MOONTON Games and PBESI. Tiger Xu, Global Head of MLBB Esports at MOONTON Games, spoke about the role of MLBB esports in Indonesia’s sporting landscape. He noted that MPL Indonesia records over 100 million watch hours per season and has reached popularity levels comparable to traditional sports such as football and badminton. He added that the opening ceremony will focus on the journey of MLBB esports, its players, teams, and fanbase, while also highlighting Indonesian culture.
Riezha Haryo Wiguna from the Indonesian Esports Central Board (PBESI) also addressed the media, stating that the M Series has become one of the most influential mobile esports tournaments globally. He highlighted Indonesia’s role as host and mentioned efforts to support young esports talent through structured pathways. According to PBESI, the M7 is positioned as both a competition and a broader esports event for the country.
