Is Arc Raiders Dying? A Look at the Current Player Count

Today marks five months since the launch of Arc Raiders, Embark Studios’ ambitious yet incredibly successful take on the extraction shooter genre. However, with the lack of major content updates, a good portion of the game’s player base has begun to grow bored with the game’s core gameplay loop, leading many to ask the inevitable question: Is Arc Raiders dying?

Arc Raiders Player Count Analyzed

To understand whether Arc Raiders is “dying,” we first have to take a look at the game’s player count and compare it to what it used to be a couple of months ago.

While there’s no reliable way to track the total player count of Arc Raiders, we can get a decent estimate by studying the game’s numbers on Steam.

Taking a look at Steam Charts, we can see that Arc Raiders averages around 100,000 players at any given time, peaking at 146,000 on March 30 at around midnight UTC.

While 146,000 peak concurrent players is, without a doubt, an impressive number that most titles on the platform could only dream of achieving, how does it compare to the game’s own numbers in the past?

As shown in the screenshot above, the player count of Arc Raiders has been on a steady downward trajectory over the past few months. The game used to regularly peak at over 400,000 players in January 2026, but that number has evidently decreased considerably since then.

Is Arc Raiders Dying?

While the current player count of Arc Raiders might seem low at first, there are a few key factors that you have to keep in mind while deciding whether it is “dying”:

  • The hype surrounding Arc Raiders has somewhat faded, and players might be getting tired of the gameplay loop and moving on to other titles.
  • There has been no major content update in well over a month.
  • The next major Arc Raiders update, Flashpoint, is due tomorrow.
  • The Flashpoint update might see a surge of returning players to the game, spiking its player numbers.

Lastly, a daily average of over 100,000+ players is still highly significant, consistently placing Arc Raiders among the top 15 most-played games on Steam on any given day. Not to mention, this figure doesn’t account for players on the Epic Games Store or on consoles.

Considering these factors, it’s safe to say that Arc Raiders is not a dead game. However, if Embark Studios doesn’t increase the pace of its content updates, players may eventually grow bored and move on to the next big thing.
