ESIC Bans Alexey Shyshko Permanently for Match-Fixing and Facilitating Cheating

The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) has made a landmark decision in the esports world. Alexey Shyshko, an owner of several professional esports teams like Akuma, Majesty, and Project X, has been handed a lifetime ban. This move, effective from October 24, 2023, marks a major step in safeguarding the integrity of competitive esports.

After a detailed investigation, ESIC found Shyshko guilty of major rule violations. He was involved in match-fixing and cheating to gain financial benefits. Two main events highlighted these unethical practices: a Bulgarian LAN event and the “Time of Bet Cup” event. In these, Shyshko manipulated match outcomes and gave unfair advantages to his teams, particularly Team Majesty.

Shyshko’s actions struck at the heart of what makes esports fair and exciting. He broke the trust of players, fans, and the whole esports community. His manipulation and cheating directly contradicted the spirit of fair competition. ESIC’s decision to ban him for life reflects the seriousness of his offenses.

This isn’t just about punishing one individual. ESIC has also penalized teams and players linked to Shyshko’s unethical activities. They’re sending a message: cheating and corruption in esports won’t be tolerated. To encourage honesty, they’ve even granted immunity to those who helped in the investigation.

ESIC’s tough stance is a reminder to everyone in esports—players, teams, organizers, and fans—that ethical behavior and fair play are crucial. They’re constantly improving their methods to detect and deal with any threats to esports integrity. As esports grows, such firm actions are essential to ensure the spirit of true competition remains strong.
