Dota 2 is finally getting a Bard character!
Valve continues to expand the hero roster of Dota 2 with the game’s 7.40 patch, which introduces the bard frog Largo to the popular MOBA.
Alongside the addition of Largo, the patch 7.40 introduces a plethora of exciting gameplay changes to Dota 2, potentially shaking up the current state of the competitive meta just hours ahead of the DreamLeague Season 27 Playoffs.
New Dota 2 Hero Largo
Unlike your traditional bard character, Largo’s set of skills isn’t limited to music alone, as he can wreak havoc on the battlefield using his frog minions to stun enemies while pulling unsuspecting foes using his tongue.
The flashiest part of his kit, however, is undoubtedly his ultimate, which briefly turns Dota 2 into a rhythm game and rewards abilities cast on the beat with stacks of bonus armor and mana cost reduction. Oh, and did we mention it has no cooldown?

Without further ado, let’s check out all the abilities of Largo, the newest Dota 2 support hero:
- Encore (Innate): Buffs that Largo applies to himself or his team have extended duration.
- Catchy Lick: Largo licks the targeted unit with his tongue, pulling it back a short distance, applying a basic dispel, and dealing damage if it’s an enemy.
Dispelling an effect from a target grants Largo temporary health regeneration.
- Frogstomp: Largo tosses froglings to an area. They stomp the ground every 1 second, dealing damage, and minions and enemies in the area have reduced movement speed.
- Croak of Genius: Largo strums a tune to a friendly hero. The hero’s items and abilities have reduced mana cost, and a percentage of their damage reverberates over the following 5 seconds. When an affected hero spends mana, the remaining buff duration is reduced by 0.5s.
- Amphibian Rhapsody: Largo gets ready to groove. He is disarmed, and his ability bar switches to 3 song abilities, each with different effects. Songs are only effective if strummed on the beat.
Every time he strums successfully, he gains a stack of Groovin’. Each stack gives him bonus armor and reduces the mana cost of every song, but he loses a stack if he misses a beat. Stacks linger for a short duration when Largo’s song ends.
