Did Fortnite Remove Zero Build? How to Find the Mode After Update

Players logging into Fortnite after the recent update have noticed changes to the lobby interface, leading to questions about the status of the Zero Build mode. Epic Games has not removed the mode, but its location within the menu has shifted.

The launch of the “Love and Legends” Valentine’s Day update on February 5 brought several adjustments to the user interface. These modifications have altered how players navigate to specific game modes, including the popular non-building option.

Where is Zero Build in Fortnite?

The Zero Build mode remains available in the game, though it is now situated in a more compact section of the “Discover” menu. The developers have consolidated the selection process for Battle Royale options.

Players can locate the mode by following these specific steps:

  1. Navigate to the lobby and scroll down to the “Battle Royale” category.
  2. Select “Battle Royale” and return to the main selection screen.
  3. Locate the button situated directly above the “PLAY” option.
  4. This button opens a menu where players can toggle between “Build” and “Zero Build.”
  5. After selecting “Zero Build,” players can choose their preferred team size and whether to play Ranked or Unranked.
  6. Confirm the selection by clicking “PLAY” to return to the lobby and queue for a match.

Reasons for the Interface Update

Epic Games has not provided a specific explanation for this interface adjustment. The change appears to be an effort to reduce clutter within the Discover menu, though the previous layout offered a more direct distinction between the two primary Battle Royale modes.

The update coincides with the start of the in-game Valentine’s Day event. Players can earn free rewards associated with this event by participating in matches across both standard Battle Royale and Zero Build modes.

The developers have not indicated if this menu structure is permanent. Future updates could potentially alter the navigation process again.
