According to SteamCharts, CS:GO reached its greatest peak since April 2021 with 1,133,610 concurrent players over the weekend.
Over the years, CS:GO has seen several rivals, with players often comparing it to other first-person shooters.
But even in the face of newer first-person shooters, the game has remained popular. Though both supporters and detractors are quick to write off CS:GO, the game keeps coming back for more.
The number of people using their Steam accounts to play the classic shooter has increased by 4%, as shown by the website steam charts. Uncertain factors may have contributed to the price increase, but fans of the first-person shooter are just glad the game is back in the spotlight.
The growth of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s player base in 2023 is encouraging news for Valve’s first-person shooter. Since 2021, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has officially surpassed 1 million users.
Many factors cause the number of players in any given game to rise and fall, and CS:GO is no exception. Except for that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s numbers dropped in May of 2021 and never recovered.  Â
As usual, gamers have jumped to the conclusion that CS:GO is dead because of the rise of more recent games. If you’re a fan of first-person shooters, though, 2023 has good news.
This demonstrates that CS:GO is still one of the most played first-person shooters in the world despite the lack of content such as new missions, game modes, or skins. In contrast to some of its rivals, such as VALORANT and Overwatch 2, Valve’s game does not receive many significant upgrades during the year.
However, there have been reports since last year that the long-awaited Source 2 engine would soon be deployed in CS:GO, which might bring back players who have left the game due to the lack of updates and bring in new players.
The number of people playing CS:GO has increased by 4% since December, reaching 1,000,000 once more, as reported on steamcharts. In January of 2021, the game reached its previous all-time high.
Over the past 30 days, an astonishing 1,133,610 players have engaged in CS:GO action. Although this uptick started in the second half of 2022, it wasn’t nearly enough to warrant much note until much later.
With these updated numbers, Valve has a solid basis on which to launch its new business in 2023. If the current rate of growth continues unabated, CS:player GO’s count might reach an all-time high in 2023. Perhaps the data will persuade Valve to release the long-awaited Source 2 port.
There are 658,413 regular players in 2023, with the number jumping to nearly a million at its highest point. The future looks bright for Valve’s classic first-person shooter, as upcoming events and activities are expected to further boost the game’s already booming user base.
According to data compiled by SteamCharts, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive saw its biggest peak in terms of concurrent players this past weekend at 1,133,610, its largest peak since April 2021.
It’s odd that the peak occurred while there were no major changes, no major professional tournaments, and no brand new stuff to compete for like a brand new company.
CS:GO’s average player count (658,932.4 in the past 30 days) hasn’t been higher since May 2021, when it averaged 659,888.9 players.
But the Major-themed update is the only one that will definitely be coming to CS:GO in the near future. Valve may reintroduce team and player stickers in time for the BLAST.tv Paris Major, which takes place in May.
After the IEM Rio Major in November 2022, Valve made certain changes to CS:GO that made headlines, including nerfs to the AWP and M4A1-S and the removal of Dust II from the active duty map pool to make room for Anubis.
