StarLadder Budapest Major Stage 3 Round 4 Recap

Round 4 of the StarLadder Budapest Major brings some of the best teams in tough spots, especially with the playoffs on the line. As some fight for qualification, others fight to stay alive in the event. Here is everything that happened at StarLadder Budapest Major Stage 3, Round 4.

Vitality vs NAVI: Vitality dropping form while NAVI picking up the pace left both teams at an awkward middle ground. As they went toe-to-toe, we saw a well-balanced matchup until the very end of the series. 13-11 across both maps shows what a tight affair it was, and Vitality edging out on both occasions speaks highly of the resilience they carry as a team. It goes without saying that ZyWoo made the difference with 40 kills and 1.34 IR in 2 maps.

B8 vs paiN: Arguably the two underdogs of Stage 3, but it was B8 who came out on top after back-to-back hard-fought maps ensured that they stay alive for another round here at the Budapest Major. 19-16 and 16-12 in two maps saw two teams engage in a tough contest, but it was the Brazilians who could not push it over the line, leading to B8 making it to Round 5.

Passion UA vs Imperial: The PassionUA Cinderella run keeps going as they take down Brazilian side Imperial with a 2-0 scoreline. A challenging yet comfortable first map, followed by a tough and well-contested map, put the NA side in through to Round 5, and unfortunately for Imperial, their campaign ends here.

MOUZ vs Falcons: Both teams, on the edge of qualification, started the series with a bang. MOUZ pulled ahead in the first half of the first map before Falcons pulled off a stunning comeback to take an early lead in the series. After the setback, MOUZ levelled the series with a dominant win on Inferno, followed by a close win on Nuke. MOUZ would be going through as the Falcons would need another win in Round 4 to see the face of the playoffs.

It’s tough to see a few good teams head to the airport, but that’s a part of the sport. With the conclusion of this round, we stand one Round away from the playoffs. Budapest Major has delivered on all fronts, and this Round has been no exception. Round 5 commences tomorrow, and we will have all the teams that will be making it into the playoffs.
