Map 1: Overpass; Pick: MOUZ; Winner: MOUZ
A clean B execute put MOUZ on the scoreboard to kick off the game. G2’s first round came off the back of a full buy on Round 4 as they managed to shut down a B execute. Winning the first round, G2 racked up 4 wins in a row before MOUZ hit the board back with an eco round, breaking G2’s economy. As MOUZ looked to cement their lead by the end of the first half, malbsMd came up huge with a deagle 3K to give his team the edge they needed to level the scoreline. The second half remained a tight affair with neither team willing to give up as MOUZ won back-to-back rounds to force the game to OT. After a stunning performance in regulation, G2 dropped the ball, managing 1 round as MOUZ pulled in 4 to take their own map in style. 28 kills from Spinx proved to be instrumental in MOUZ taking down G2 to open up the series.
Map 2: Dust2; Pick: G2; Winner: MOUZ
A 3-0 start for G2 sent huNter’s side to winning ways before MOUZ got on the board to level the scoreline. With both teams trading rounds, MOUZ and G2 closed the first half with a level scoreline before switching sides. From a 6-6 scoreline, MOUZ raced to go ahead as G2 failed to get anything more than a single round. Winning 4 rounds to close the half, MOUZ dominated G2 after a competitive first half to send them packing. Dust2, being an AWPers map, saw Torzsi topping the charts with a stunning sniper performance, dropping 18 kills and 1.33 IR.
An unfortunate exit for G2, who is still working things out as a freshly minted roster. huNter as an IGL has excelled at times, but the roster is still missing that X factor and the starpower to grind out matches on the big stage.
