FURIA Upsets Falcons to Reach IEM Chengdu 2025 Finals

FURIA is going to the Grand Finals of IEM Chengdu 2025, beating Falcons with a 2-0 scoreline and setting up a shot at the trophy against the World Number 1 in Vitality. Having won the Thunderpick World Championship, their recent run of form has turned them into true contenders for the trophy.

  • Falcons picked Mirage
  • FURIA removed Dust2

  • Nuke was left over

Map 1: Inferno; Pick: FURIA; Winner: FURIA

Total domination to begin the game, FURIA manhandled the Falcons’ defense, who failed to get into any rhythm. The poor start to the offense cost m0NESY and co. They managed no more than 2 rounds in the first half. Falcons pulled in 2 rounds to reduce the deficit, but a comeback was far from being a possibility given the mountain of a lead FURIA gathered on their defense. FURIA got back on the board with the first gun round to close the half with a 13-5 scoreline.

Map 2: Mirage; Pick: Falcons; Winner: FURIA

3-0 start for Falcons got them an early lead, something they have missed in the previous map. While the Falcons remained dominant, FURIA pulled rounds to remain competitive in the second half. Having got into a lead before switching sides, Falcon’s defense failed to secure an early lead that FURIA were quick to capitalise on, leading to FURIA going into the lead and FALCONS having to make a comeback from a deficit. Falcons almost pushed it to overtime with the final round of the series coming to a 1v1 that went the way of the Brazilians to close the series with a 2-0 scoreline.

Despite not losing a single map up until this point, the Falcons’ performance against FURIA has been nothing short of shocking. From poor teamplay to improper decision-making, the Falcons’ troubles continue, and with the Major coming, it seems like NiKo’s wait will continue a little longer.
