New CS2 Update Brings Molotov Improvements, Sound Adjustments & More: All Changes Inside

Valve has shipped out a new update to Counter-Strike 2 on January 27, and it brings with it a series of quality-of-life improvements to the game alongside other changes.

The latest CS2 patch isn’t nearly as big as the one we saw a few days ago, but it does include some much-needed fixes for the competitive shooter.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at everything you need to know about the new CS2 update.

CS2 January 27 Update: Patch Notes

The highlights of the January 27 CS2 update include a Molotov change that lets them bounce off an enemy player with a one-time fuse extension to prevent air-bursting, various knife-sound adjustments, stability improvements, and more.

The Molotov change is undoubtedly the most interesting update in this new patch. In layman’s terms, Molotovs and Incendiaries will now get a one-time fuse extension when they hit an enemy player. Previously, they could explode mid-air if their timer ran out before hitting the ground, but this change should fix that issue.

Below, we have included the detailed patch notes for the latest CS2 update, as revealed by Valve:

[ GAMEPLAY ]

  • Molotov/incendiary grenades that bounce off an enemy player have a one-time fuse extension added to prevent them from air-bursting when their has-never-hit-the-world timer elapses.

[ SOUND ]

  • Fixed a performance issue when running CS2 without a sound device.
  • Various knife sound adjustments.

[ MISC ]

  • Fixed broken cl_ent_bbox visualization for some classes of rigid dynamic entities.
  • Various stability improvements.

[ MAPS ]

Nuke

  • Adjusted hanging hard hat model render bounds to prevent shadow popping when model exited the view frustum.
