Aurora edged out Team Liquid after losing the first map and coming back with back-to-back map wins to hit an early 2-0 in PGL Bucharest 2025. The Turkish side has faced backlash lately for not delivering at the top stage, but their recent form has turned them into favorites for this CS2 event.

Map 1: Mirage; Pick: Liquid; Winner: Liquid
A 3-0 start for Liquid was quickly matched by Aurora, which hit back hard. Liquid maintained their strong start and edged out a narrow lead before switching sides. The 7-5 scoreline got extended to 10-5 before the Aurora defense put together a streak of rounds to hit the map point first, but Liquid won the final round to take the game to OT. Having failed to edge out a win in the first half, Liquid won 4 rounds in a row to open the series with a win.
Map 2: Train; Pick: Aurora ; Winner: Aurora
4-0 start for Aurora puts Liquid on the back foot to open up Train. The clear difference in preparation was readily apparent from the first round. While Liquid managed to win a few rounds, Aurora was far the better team and rolled in hard to switch sides with a 9-3 lead. Liquid won the pistol to start the offense, but Aurora managed to get back on the board by converting the force buy. Taking back the momentum, Aurora won 4 rounds in a row to level the series.
Map 3: Dust2 ; Pick: Decider; Winner: Aurora
Liquid’s 2-0 start quickly lost momentum as Aurora hit the board with their first gun round win. Liquid managed to win two more rounds as Aurora’s defense remained largely dominant for the better part of the first half and concluded with an 8-4 lead. Liquid levelled the scoreline, winning four rounds in a row before Aurora shifted gears to close out the map with a streak of rounds of their own and closed the map with a 13-8 scoreline.
Liquid’s resurgence had many believing that they might come back stronger, but EliGE‘s addition has not borne the results that people expect. The team will need time to find their rhythm, but their honeymoon period with the new star man is far from ideal.
