Astralis Dominates PGL Bucharest 2026 Group Stage Opener Against MIBR With 2-0 Sweep

The starting round of PGL Bucharest 2026 Group Stage saw Astralis placed against MIBR. The Danish org dominated the competition and ended the series with a 2-0 sweep over their Brazilian counterparts.

Here’s everything that went down in today’s Counter-Strike 2 showdown:

Map Veto

  • MIBR banned Dust2
  • Astralis banned Anubis
  • MIBR picked Mirage
  • Astralis picked Overpass
  • Astralis banned Inferno
  • MIBR banned Ancient
  • Nuke was left over

Map 1: Mirage (Pick: MIBR, Win: Astralis, Final Score: 13-10)

Despite being MIBR’s pick, Mirage saw Astralis getting a strong start as the Danish side opened the BO3 with a pistol-round win on the CT side, followed by an anti-eco conversion and a buy-round win before finally conceding their first round. MIBR still faced an economic disadvantage, leading to Astralis once again taking the driver’s seat. The Brazilian org could grab only one round over the rest of the half while Astralis dominated their CT side with a comfortable lead of 10-2.

MIBR looked to retaliate by grabbing the pistol-round on the second half, but a force-buy from Astralis on the second round kept them at bay. After trading another set of rounds, Astralis stood at match point. MIBR looked to mount a comeback by grabbing six consecutive rounds, but a successful B-hit from Astralis on the 23rd round secured them the first map of the series.

Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard was easily the MVP for Astralis on Mirage, dropping a whopping 25 kills while conceding only 14 deaths over the course of the game.

Map 2: Overpass (Pick: Astralis, Win: Astralis, Final Score: 13-5)

Once again, Astralis looked much more comfortable than MIBR as the two teams headed into the second map of the series. The first half of Overpass played out much like the opener, with Astralis starting their dominance from the first pistol round and giving up only two rounds over the half to lead 10-2.

Hope looked slim for MIBR as Astralis managed to secure the pistol round in the second half as well. While MIBR attempted to retaliate with a force buy, they could only pick up three more rounds before Astralis closed out the map, sealing a 13-5 victory.

With this victory, Astralis move to the 1-0 bracket in the group stage of PGL Bucharest 2026, while MIBR fall to the list of 0-1 teams.
