Counter Strike Turns 20 Years Old

Counter Strike celebrates its 20th anniversary in the gaming industry.

Counter Strike celebrated its 20-year anniversary in the gaming industry on November 9.

The popular Valve game had released their first public beta of their first ever game, Counter Strike 1.0, on June 19, 1999. However, the game was officially published and released to the public on November 9, 1999.

It has been quite a momentous journey for the tactical FPS game that has etched its identity in the esports world and has been one of the key proponents in the inculcation of esports into the mainstream world.

Their latest release, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, was released in 2012 and has been widely popular while also beating other competitors in the scene. Valorant has tried to put a dent in it. However, the game still stands strong and it will be intriguing to see how this rivalry pans out.

For now, let us celebrate the 20th anniversary of our favourite Tactical FPS. Many of us grew up playing this game and we’re just glad that in this ever-changing world and in a year that has panned out the way it is, we can always rely on Counter Strike to be there, with us, always and hopefully, forever.
