The first day of the BGIS 2026 Quarter Finals turned out to be full of unexpected drama. Group A and Group B had already completed their three matches each, and everything was going according to schedule. However, an official notice from KRAFTON suddenly changed the entire situation. Here is a simple breakdown of what exactly happened.
Why Group A Matches Were Cancelled in BGIS 2026 Quarter Finals?
Even before the Quarter Finals matches began, Team Avanza was disqualified for violating Rule 6.3.13 during Round 4. In Round 4 Group 6, Avanza had finished in 6th position. As per the format, the top 7 teams from the group qualified for the Quarter Finals.
Technically, Avanza had secured their spot. But after the disqualification, their slot became vacant.
Logically, the next eligible team should have replaced them. In Group 6, 7ACESxTRB Esports had finished in 8th position. According to tournament rules, they were the rightful replacement.
Confusion Begins: BTD Added Instead of 7ACESxTRB
When Quarter Finals matches started, fans noticed something surprising. Instead of 7ACESxTRB Esports, BTD was added to the lobby in Avanza’s place.
BTD even played all three matches of the day and managed to score 12 points. Everything seemed normal at first, as both Group A and Group B completed their scheduled matches.
But soon after, another official notice was released.
Official Notice: 7ACESxTRB Esports to Replace Avanza, Group A Matches Cancelled
In the new statement, KRAFTON clarified that after Avanza’s disqualification, the next eligible team, 7ACESxTRB Esports, would officially advance to the Quarter Finals.
At the same time, it was announced that all three matches of Group A played earlier would be rehosted. This means the previous results of Group A will not be counted. The matches will be replayed with 7ACESxTRB Esports in the lobby.
In simple words, Group A gets a complete reset and a fresh start.

This rehost decision brings major pressure for teams that performed well on Day 1.
Autobotz Esports had topped the table with 37 points, while Team Tamilas secured 32 points and looked strong for a Semi Finals push. With momentum on their side, these teams were in a comfortable position.
However, in a battle royale game like BGMI, consistency is extremely difficult. A small mistake, bad zone shift, or early elimination can completely change results. Now these teams must replay the same matches where they previously dominated, without any guarantee of repeating that performance.
On the other hand, teams that struggled in the initial three matches now get a second opportunity. The rehost gives them a fresh chance to correct their mistakes and climb the points table.
With 64 teams competing in the Quarter Finals and only 16 teams moving directly to the Semi Finals, the competition is already intense. The rehost adds even more unpredictability to the tournament.
Why Was BTD Initially Added?
The biggest unanswered question remains: if 7ACESxTRB Esports was the rightful replacement, why was BTD initially added to the lobby?
The official notice did not explain this detail. It is still unclear whether it was an administrative error, communication gap, or technical issue. Fans are now waiting for further clarification.
