Can You Play Marvel Rivals on Mac

NetEase Games’ Marvel Rivals burst onto the scene last December 2024, collecting more than 40 million players since its release with its formula of team-based shooter action. For Mac gamers looking to enter a multiverse of mayhem, the answer is both yes and no.

In this article, we will explain whether you will be able to play Marvel Rivals on your Mac or not. Keep reading till the end.

Is It Possible to Play Marvel Rivals on a Mac?

Marvel Rivals officially supports Windows 10 64-bit, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Apple Silicon and Intel Macs are not supported natively, which means macOS users will have to resort to using alternative means for playing the game. It requires 16GB RAM with 70GB storage, while its minimum requirement also includes Windows-specific DirectX 12 support.

NVIDIA GeForce NOW became the most reliable and safe solution in January 2025 when Marvel Rivals officially came to the service. This cloud gaming service streams the game from remote servers directly to your Mac, fully eliminating all compatibility concerns. With a membership to GeForce NOW-which starts with a free tier-you can play at up to 4K resolution and up to 240 FPS if supported on your plan. The service requires only a stable internet connection-ideally 300Mbps+ for optimal performance syncs in with your Steam account for seamless progression.

Boosteroid gives an alternative cloud option, though users report more lag due to mainly European-based servers. Before GeForce NOW support, Mac players relied on CrossOver, a compatibility layer emulating Windows environments. Though it works technically fine on CrossOver Preview with Apple Silicon Macs, this is highly risky.

In early January 2025, NetEase’s anti-cheat system mistakenly classed CrossOver users as cheaters and issued 100-year bans to many legitimate players. While most were reversed after CodeWeavers CEO James Ramey negotiated with NetEase, the risk of future detection is still present. If you try CrossOver and encounter technical issues, such as invisible login buttons, error messages about drivers, or mandatory usage of the D3DMetal graphics setting, consider the $24 alternative. Performance is passable on the M-series Macs at the lowest settings with 60 FPS caps, although the 15-20GB RAM usage from the launcher is a strain on the system.
