Every scrap counts, from rifles down to rags; however, Power Cables are a very important key to unlock the progress of your Gear Bench from Level 2 to 3. It upgrades the crafting tiers, enabling one to forge high-end armor and weapons crucial for late-game raids. You’ll need exactly three, and unlike the basics like Scrap Metal, they can’t be bought from traders or crafted; pure loot grind required.
Focus on tech-heavy zones filled with lootable computers and servers, where Power Cables spawn at a consistent rate of 10-15% per container drop. Some of the best hotspots include:
- Spaceport Departure/Arrival Buildings: Best for efficiency. Multiple-floor designs contain scores of PC desks and terminals. 1-2 Cables for a complete sweep, some mid-level Arca danger, and little PvP engagement. Best solo farm rate.
- Space Travel Offices of Buried City: Office skyscrapers provide good loot, but in exchange, they mean vulnerable players must navigate challenging screen effects. Having the enemy increase height adds danger, but things like elevators and staircases help with loot. Good for two-man groups who can cover each flank.
- Dam Battlegrounds’ Research and Administration: High risk, high reward. High spawn locations near Control Tower, but it’s a meat grinder pvp – so only for trios.
Make night drops stealthy. Tag with Scout Drone before loot. Relay Wire and Circuit Board runs. Current meta indicates Spaceport provides 70% of lootable Cables on 50+ runs.
