You aren’t able to send skins directly from within your Fortnite locker to another player. Gifting in Fortnite can be done only via the Item Shop and not directly from your list of owned skins.
Gifting is a way for many players in Fortnite to show generosity. However, Epic Games did not allow the system in the first place. Skins added to your locker are bound permanently to an account. Gifting or trading them directly is impossible in this case; there is no way to transfer items from one locker to another player.
Why? This restriction blocks scams, account thefts, and protects the integrity of the V-Bucks economy. Allowing trades or locker gifting would undermine Fortnite’s business model by enabling a trading marketplace instead of purchases.
How to Gift Skins in Fortnite
You can only gift skins by buying them from the Item Shop. Here’s how:
- Open Fortnite and enter the Item Shop.
- Choose the skin you want to gift.
- Choose either the “Buy as Gift” or “Gift” option.
- Click on your friend in the list. You’ll be notified if they already own that skin.
- Select wrapping options and confirm your purchase.
- The skin is delivered instantly.
Notes: Make sure you have enough V-Bucks (at least 800 for basic skins; some are more expensive). Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your Epic account, and be friends with the recipient for at least 48 hours.
Apart from that, there are a few things that you should remember before gifting a skin. You can’t gift V-Bucks, Battle Pass (with V-Bucks), or items you already have. Gifting has a daily limit of up to 5 gifts per 24 hours, and all gifts are non-refundable. Community Perspective Although many players want the ability to share unused skins with a locker, the system keeps Fortnite fair and secure. In the event that Epic Games ever decides to allow gifting or trading through lockers, this would likely shift the entire economics and social structure of the game.
