Biomass stands out as one of the most crucial crafting materials in LEGO Fortnite, crucial for making Power Cells that fuel all the cool vehicles added with the Mechanical Mayhem update. Biomass differs from such basic resources as wood or stone in that it is not mined directly from the landscape but rather is produced via a certain process.
How to Get Biomass in Lego Fortnite
To begin gathering biomass, a player will need to craft a Compost Bin, a utility station that breaks down organic materials into fertilizer, soil, and biomass. The recipe becomes available after crafting Planks and then interacting with a Lumber Mill. The Compost Bin also needs:
- 5 Planks Created at a Lumber Mill, using Wood
- 2 Soil (collected in Grasslands using a Shovel)
- 1 Sand, which is excavated from either beaches, deserts, or shore biomes
- 3 Fertilizer dropped naturally by animals like chickens, cows, and sheep
Note: Building several Compost Bins is highly recommended, since the conversion process is notoriously slow.
Not every material yields the same amount of biomass. Bones are the best, readily available option with 2 biomass each. You can get bones by killing skeletons, which spawn at night. Composting only 25 bones gives you exactly 50 biomass, which will suffice to craft one Power Cell.
To get even more yield, Brute Scales and Cursed Bones each yield 3 biomass, although they are much rarer. Cow, wolf, and sheep meat also works quite well and produces consistent biomass yield. Other organic items, such as berries, eggs, vines, and wheat, can be composted but typically yield less biomass and additional products like fertilizer and soil.
