TSM wins $50K Valorant North American T1 x Ignition Series

The first North American Valorant Ignition Series brought together by T1 and Nerd Street Gamers came to an end yesterday with Team Solomid easily winning the Grand Finals without dropping a map against team T1.

Ignition Series is a worldwide series aimed at developing the competitive Valorant eco-system. The series aims at bringing together top players and teams to fight against each other in a diverse set of formats and lay the foundation for competitive VALORANT.

Following on from the European G2 Esports event, the first major North American event kicked off on June 26 and ran through to June 28 with 16 teams participating for a prize pool of $50K. The biggest names in NA finally got a chance to showcase their skills and preparation in the region’s most competitive bracket. Teams like FaZe Clan, 100 Thieves, Sentinels, and plenty more battled it out to secure the “best in NA” title.

The NA Ignition Series started off with a single-elimination group stage and then proceeded to the double-elimination playoff bracket. Teams making it through to the playoff bracket were then divided into four groups with four teams in each group.

TSM easily cruised through groups without dropping a single map and moved into the playoffs without any issue. Continuing their impressive run, TSM won three consecutive matches in the upper bracket and took out teams like T1 and Faze Clan along the way to secure their first Grand Final Spot.

Playing against T1 lead by Braxton “Brax” Pierce in the Bo5 Grand Finals, TSM continued their onslaught and easily clinched a 3-0 victory. TSM’s Sniper Matt “Wardell” Yu was the MVP of the game for dropping 30-bomb on the final map and shutting down T1 from gaining any momentum in the 3rd map.

TSM came 1st and was awarded $25,000, while T1 got $15,000 for 2nd place. For securing the 3rd/4th place, both Immortal and Faze Clan got $5000 each.
