League of Legends Worlds 2022 Information Officially Announced

There are not many tournaments in the eSports world that are bigger than the annual League of Legends Worlds as Riot Games announced League of Legends Worlds will begin on September 29 and conclude on November 5 as 24 teams participate against one another. There is a lot of information to dive into so we can make sure we back the right team and make some money in the process.

Betting on eSports is very similar to regular sports betting so the same principles apply when intertwining between the two different types of wagering.

Where is Worlds Happening This Year?

Sounds like a road trip is being planned as there are a few stops for Worlds this year that begins with the play-ins. Those will happen from September 29 through October 4 and be held at the Arena Esports Stadium at Artz Pedregal in Mexico City, Mexico. Then, the tournament officially kicks off with the group stage as that will happen from October 7-10 as well as October 13-16 inside of the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York City.

This will be the same host for the quarterfinal round as well happening from October 20th through the 23rd. The next week, the semifinals will be happening and taking place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on October 29 and 30. Finally, League of Legends Worlds will conclude with the final round commencing on November 5 from the Chase Center in San Francisco, California.

The traveling circus of eSports is great as a few major cities get to be in play and some of the best players get to see different parts of the United States and Mexico as Mexico City, New York City, Atlanta, and San Francisco are all incredible cities.

How Will International Players Compete

With the travel restrictions still in effect, international players still have the ability to play in Worlds this year, according to the League of Legends official statement. They said, “Worlds will host 24 teams from around the globe. Unfortunately, the LCL will not be able to send a representative to Worlds 2022. The LCL slot will be granted to the region that has had the best performance during international events over the past two years, but does not already have 4 team berths: Europe.”

So they will compete against one another, similar to the Little League World Series as they will compete against each other separately from the continental United States in the first few rounds before joining in the group stage. Edward Gaming from Shanghai, China won the tournament a year ago so they should be considered a favorite, especially over in the international side of the tournament.

Conclusion

League of Legends Worlds has quickly gained a lot of momentum as they are able to have buildings that NBA franchises might not be able to sell out like the Chase Center and State Farm Arena as their homes for this tournament. It is one of the most entertaining games to watch as these are the best of the best at League of Legends and they are competing in almost an All-Star Game type of feeling as they continue to showcase why they are some of the greatest players in the game.

There are a lot of different characters that you can use and see how each team in this Worlds tournament approaches it can really help a casual or semi-competitive player improve by seeing how some of the best do it.

This event continues to grow in size each year and with the ability to continue expanding, as eSports have been doing over the last 10-15 years as well, this is nowhere near the pinnacle of where League of Legends and the gaming world can be at. Which League of Legends eSports team do you believe will win the Worlds tournament this year?
