Mountain Dew’s DewArena – India’s largest gaming championship

Mountain Dew’s DewArena, as it says, India’s largest gaming championship in partnership with ESL India has been announced with prize-pool INR 8,00,000. The event starts 15th of July 2016 with the qualifiers.

As the name suggests, this tournament will be part of the promotional campaign for the beverage giant, Pepsi, which plans to launch their latest product Mountain Dew GameFuel in India very soon. The most interesting and exciting part of the tournament marks on the prizes to the winning team. There’s a lot more to win other than cash prize as the winning captain will have their picture embossed on the Mountain Dew GameFuel, which will be retailed all across the country.

The format of the tournament will be standardized with offline qualifiers followed by the DewArena Grand LAN finals on 24th and 25th of September in Delhi later this year.

The Games

DewArena will have the two most played online multi-player, CS:GO & DotA II covered along with the addition of FIFA which will be played on Xbox One. Forza Motorsport 6 and Mortal Kombat X will also be a part of this festival for which qualifiers will be limited to North Indian regions with offline qualifiers.

The registrations

As per the regulations by ESL globally, the registrations will be allowed to only those who have a valid ESL account and a non-VAC steam account. The registration for the CS:GO DewArena Online qualifiers will be available on ESL Play website.

As per the ESL website, qualifiers for CS:GO, DotA II and FIFA 16 will begin on 22nd of July followed by three more qualifiers for each game.

The prize-pool

The prize pool for the event is close to a million Indian currency which is huge at this level of the game. With CS:GO and DotA II taking maximum numbers from the proportion Rs. 3,50,000 each for both the games, FIFA has left with INR 1 lakh.
